Gene Lee McMahon, age 78, of Marysville, died peacefully Thursday, December 30, 2021 at his home. A local entrepreneur, he received a draftsman degree and a mechanical engineering degree from The Ohio College of Applied Sciences in Cincinnati and managed a variety of businesses. As a young man, Gene was a skilled trap shooter and won many competition awards for his marksmanship. Throughout his life, Gene enjoyed golfing, watching Ohio State football and basketball, and most especially, being with family. He often could be seen at Monarch athletic events involving his children and grandchildren. He was born October 17, 1943 in Delaware to the late Lee and Mary Compton McMahon. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Diane L. Otte McMahon, whom he married December 28, 1963 at First English Lutheran Church in Marysville; his daughters, Laura (Jeff) Chervenak of Palmyra, Virginia and Leanne (Rob) Spellman of Richwood; three grandchildren, Tyler Stiers and his fiancée, Kendra, Nicholas Chervenak and Daryn Stiers; three step-grandchildren, Jackson, Maxwell and Cordelia; a great-grandson, Ezra; a sister-in-law, Janet Hunt; and nieces, nephews and other relatives. Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Underwood Funeral Home where the family will receive friends beginning at 3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to ProMedica Hospice.
