George Lane, 91, of Ostrander, died Monday, May 6, 2019, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Dec. 5, 1927, in Columbus, to the late Albert and Anna (Lake) Lane.
He was a life-long farmer in Ostrander. He left the family farm to join the United States Army in January 1955. He served his time and was honorably discharged in December 1956.
He loved the outdoors, whether it was rabbit hunting, gardening or cutting wood. In his younger years, he and his wife, Mildred, also enjoyed roller skating, square dancing and playing cards.
He attended the Ostrander United Methodist Church for more than 40 years, before his health kept him from attending services.
He was preceded in death by parents and his wife.
He is survived by his daughters, Deborah (John) Schenerlein, Della Rice and Donna (Derick) Burnside, grandchildren George, Katie, Caroline, Matthew, Emma, Beth, Hannah, Max, and Deon, eight great-grandchildren, sister Alice Andrews, as well as nieces and nephew.
Family and friends may call from 5-8 p.m., Monday, at Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive (Formerly 1510 West William Street) in Delaware.
Pastor Jeff O’Brien will officiate funeral services at 10 a.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Ostrander, with military honors provided by the Delaware County Veterans Association.
