Gerald R. Graves, 80, of Marysville died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019 at Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a charter member of the Marysville Moose #1651, where he served five times as governor, a past president of the Marysville Jaycees and a member of the Marysville Elks #1130.
He enjoyed working on old cars, going to car shows and cruise-ins and working on puzzles.
A 1957 graduate of Marysville High School, he worked for Kroger, Stockdale’s and Honda, where he retired. He also worked at Mannasmith Funeral Home.
He also served in the Ohio National Guard from 1957-1965.
Born June 24, 1939 in Marysville, he was the son of the late Albert and Edith (Rausch) Graves. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Ken; a brother, Robert; and sisters-in-law, Eleanor Graves and Yvonne Morrow.
On Nov. 16, 1958 in Centerburg, his cousin, pastor Graves, officiated his wedding, when he married the little girl he met on the school bus in grade school, E. Diane Harper, who survives in Marysville.
Also surviving are his children, Terri (Ray) Myers of Marysville, Jill (Jason) Elson of Marysville and Wayne (Jenny) Graves of Marysville; grandchildren, Tim Shreve, Corey Shreve, Shiann (Travis) Young, Savana Myers, Nikki Graves, Kyle Mershon, Tyler (Whitley) Mershon and Piper Graves; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Roland (Steve Hodgson) Graves of Marysville; and a brother-in-law, David (Thelma) Harper of Braodway.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Barry Scott will officiate and burial will follow at the church cemetery.
