Gregory J. “Greg” Danner, 59, of Marysville, died late Wednesday evening, Dec. 29 at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
He was retired from Honda after 28 years as a welding associate. He attended the Ohio State University and the Columbus Technical Institute, graduating with an associate’s degree in electrical engineering. A very social person, he was also a member of the Indian Lake Moose Lodge #1533, and he thoroughly enjoyed watching NASCAR races and cheering on his Ohio State Buckeyes and the Browns.
He was, unequivocally, a family man. He grew up in a wonderful military family and, no matter the distance, they were always dedicated to each other. This devotion continued with the love he carried for his wife, children, and especially his grandson, Emmett. He was always involved in his children’s activities from traveling baseball to gymnastics as they grew, and he enjoyed camping with them for family vacations, even this Christmas to Mohican.
His family was the most important thing to him – he made sure they were always provided for, and that they never went without. They will miss him tremendously.
He was born June 9, 1962 in Marquette, Michigan to the late Colonel James Earl and Elizabeth (Thomas) Danner. He married the former Karen Savoia on June 18, 1988 at the Ascension Lutheran Church in Columbus.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Karen; their children, Katherine “Katie” Nicol Danner of Marysville and Kyle (Amanda) Danner of Asheville, North Carolina; an adored grandson, Emmett James Nicol Danner; siblings, David (Patty) Danner of Wooster, Debbie (Mike) Comer of Asheville, North Carolina and Cathie Adams of Florida; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services to celebrate Greg’s life were held Monday, Jan. 3 at the Ingram Funeral Home.
In his memory, contributions may be made to the funeral home to help the family with the unexpected expenses.
