Jack Benny Long, 68, of Plain City died unexpectedly at his home Friday, March 26, 2021 as the result of a pulmonary embolism.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Cindy Kay (Jester) Long and his son, Chad David Long, both of Plain City.
He was a 1972 graduate of Jonathan Alder High School.
He always loved to work with his hands and be outside. He was a great carpenter and has built, remodeled, or roofed many houses locally and in surrounding communities. He was a hard worker an put his all into everything he did.
He had a love for his wife most can only imagine. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone who needed it.
He was someone who was always there and will be missed dearly.
In addition to his wife and son, he is also survived by his mother, Peggy (Long) Wilcox of East Liberty; sisters, Virginia Montgomery and Sandra Wilcox, both of East Liberty, Phyllis (Joe) Calle and Tina Long, both of Plain City, Jane (Joe) Berry of Marysville, Linda Morris of West Jefferson and Alice (Charles) Renn of Henry, Tennessee; brothers, Jerry (Debby) Long, John (Brenda) Long and Frank (Jean) Long, all of Plain City; brother-in-law, Gene VanHoose of Plain City; brother, Tim (Pam) Long of Marysville and Tom (Janet) Long of London; sisters-in-law, Sue (Tony) George and April (Ted) Boddorf; and brother-in-law, Scott Jester.
He is also survived by a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins; special cousin, David and Debbie Woodruff; and his faithful canine companion and best friend, Milo.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Alice Long; sister, Patty VanHoose; brothers, Steve Long, Bob Long and Roger Long; brothers-in-law, Keith Montgomery, Robert “Pup”McColloch, Richard “Dick” Wilcox and Richard Morris; sister-in-law, Patty (Lowrie) Long; nephews, Jeremy Long and Charlie Campbell; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Frank and Betty Jester.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Ferguson Funeral Home, 202 E. Main St, Plain City where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2021 with Pastor Joe Berry officiating. Burial will be at Forest Grove Cemetery.
