James “Jim” L. Morgan, 83, of Marysville died Friday, June 12, 2020 at the Kobacker House in Columbus.
He was born Feb. 19, 1937 in Delaware County to the late Ernest Walter and Pauline Marie (Clark) Morgan.
He attended school in Delaware and joined the U.S. Army at age 17, where he served as a tank mechanic.
He spent most of his career as a truck driver for Western Auto.
He and his family attended the Ostrander United Methodist Church for many years prior to retiring to South Carolina.
While living in Edisto Beach, South Carolina, they belonged to the Edisto Beach Baptist Church. Recently, he attended the First Baptist Church of Marysville.
As a younger man, he enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and camping with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by siblings, George Morgan, Barbara Gale, Janet Klingel and Lois Van Brimmer.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Norma Jean “Jeanie” (Neill) Morgan, whom he married on Jan. 17, 1959; children, Micheal (Marcia) Morgan, Teresa (late Troy) Manley and Becky (Randy) Redmond; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Matt) Myers, Christopher (Bridia) Morgan, James (Amanda) Morgan, Benjamin (Hannah) Manley, Chrissa (David) Pemberton, Luke (Christina) Redmond and Sarah Redmond; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Carol Ann Stein Dowden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services will be held at Jerome Township Cemetery. A celebration of life gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date.
