John Ambrose Homer, age 90, of Marysville, died Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at The Ohio State University Medical Center while under hospice care following a lengthy illness. He was a longtime associate of Columbus Coated Fabrics from where he retired. He was a member of Linden Lutheran Church and was a member of Magnolia Lodge No. 20 F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus and Aladdin Shrine. Following his honorable discharge from the United States Army, he re-enlisted in the Army Reserves. He was a member of American Legion Worthington Post No. 239 and Marysville Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 3506. He enjoyed stock car racing, cheering on the OSU Buckeyes and Dallas Cowboys and listening to hard rock music. He was born September 11, 1931 in Franklin County to the late John Ambrose and Doris Underwood Homer. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Bernice Seagle Homer; a daughter, June Ann Simm; a brother, Craig; and sister, Marjorie Danielson. He is survived by his wife, Jama Lee Johnson Homer; his children, William “Bill” Homer, John “Rick” Home, Robin Beaver and Judy Homer Thompson; his step-children, Doug (Wendy) Endsley and Joe Endsley; several grandchildren, step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; his sister, Kathy Seagle; his sisters-in-law, Betty (Sherley) Crowder and Donna (Tom) Rausch; and many other relatives. Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2021 at Underwood Funeral Home, 703 East Fifth Street, Marysville, Ohio 43040 where the family will receive friends beginning at 3 p.m. Military honors and Masonic services will be held.
