John E. Miller, 71, of Marysville, died early Friday morning, Jan. 3, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was retired from Hague Quality Water.
He was a very patriotic man who was proud of his service to his country, having served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
He has participated twice as a Guardian for the Honor Flight to Washington and, also, was a participant of the Honor Flight. He was a member, locally, of the VFW Post #3320 and American Legion Post #79.
He was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and lived his faith in how he lived his life.
He was a big hearted person who had a great sense of humor, was loyal to family and friends and always put his family first in his life.
He taught his family how to courageously face adversity with tenacity and grace. He was an enthusiastic supporter of his granddaughters, attending their soccer and basketball games, was an avid OSU football and basketball fan and loved traveling to the beach and taking cruises with his wife and family.
He was born Feb. 26, 1948, in Columbus to the late Edwin L. and Donna M. Coons Miller. He married the former Sharon M. Reiff on Feb. 15, 1970, at the Marysville First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Sharon; their children Craig (Mary Ann) Miller and Christi (Greg) Lee; grandchildren, McKinzi, Sydney, Kassidy, Camri and Gabrey; in-laws, the Rev. Kathy Reiff, Ken (Nan) Reiff, Joanne Seitz and Karen Reiff; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Revs. Dennis Goff, Barry Scott, and Elaine Clinger Sturtz officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Union County Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Honor Flight, Loving Care Hospice or the Union County Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
