Patty Clark, age 90, of East Liberty, died Monday, April 29, 2024 at Walnut Crossing in Marysville.
She retired as postmaster of the East Liberty Post Office and previously worked in post offices in Dublin and Marysville.
Early in her career, she was a secretary for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and also worked as a bookkeeper for Westinghouse in Columbus.
A 1952 graduate of Hilliard High School, she grew up in the Amlin area, where she was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was baptized, confirmed and married at St. John.
A longtime member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Marysville, Patty participated in Ladies Bible Study, the Ladies Aid and assisted with funeral dinners.
Known for her hospitality and good cooking, she was especially appreciated for her pies, cookies and noodles.
She will be most remembered for her devotion to family and to her faith.
She was born April 19, 1934 in Amlin, Ohio to the late Godfrey and Mattie Ruth Armstrong Rings and was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Joseph Clark, whom she married August 22, 1954; three sisters, Mary Catherine “Kate” Reber, Ruthella Finch and Joan Schatz; and two brothers, Louis Rings and Sam Rings.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheri (Jeff) Nicol of Marysville; her son, Joseph Clark of Priest River, Idaho; five grandchildren, Sarah Clark (Chris) McDonald of Boise, Idaho, Andrew (Melissa) Nicol of Marysville Thomas (Becka) Clark of Sand Point, Idaho, Daniel Nicol of Marysville and Joseph Owen Clark of Sand Point, Idaho; four great-grandchildren, Kyra and Aylah Clark and Joseph and Jackson Nicol; a sister, Mae Etta Thiergartner of Plain City; a brother, Henry (Carmen) Rings of Hilliard; an aunt, Mary Armstrong; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Rings and Mildred Clark; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, including Pearl and Gloria Nicol, who lovingly cared for Patty.
The family will receive friends 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Underwood Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2024 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 12809 State Route 736, Marysville. The funeral service will be live- streamed on Facebook at www.facebook.com/jack.heino
Rev. Jacob D. Heino will officiate and burial will be beside her husband at St. John’s Church Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the cemetery prayers at St. John’s school.
