Richard L. “Dick” Hatcher Sr., 76, of Marysville, died Sunday morning, Sept. 30, 2018, at Monarch Nursing Home following many months of failing health.
He retired from Nestlé R&D after 40 years of service as a machine shop fabricator. He was an avid classic car enthusiast, and his pride and joys were his two 1970 GTOs. He also enjoyed socializing, never knowing a stranger. Some of his greatest joys in life, after adoption, was he gained seven brothers and four sisters. In later years, his even greater joys in life came from having grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was born Dec. 15, 1941, in Delaware, to the late Charles and Hattie Decker. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Gaines.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Arlene Ayers, whom he married Oct. 14, 1961; children, Diana Hatcher, Beverly Hatcher, Richard L. Hatcher Jr. and Chris R. Hatcher; grandchildren, Lori (Torey) Mayberry, Jessica (Douglas) Grooms, Ashley Hatcher, Courtney Hatcher, Miranda Hatcher, Lexi Hatcher, Cade Hatcher and Seth R. Hatcher; great-grandchildren, Austin Sassen, Chance, Landen and Kaylee Mayberry, Rylee and Lillian Grooms and Hunter Tignor; and his many friends at Nestlé R&D.
Calling hours will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ingram Funeral Home. The Rev. James Taylor will officiate funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Loving Care Hospice or the Union County Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
