Robert “Bob” Shannon Anderson, age 80, of Marysville, died Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Springfield Masonic Community.
He retired from Goodyear in Marysville after serving 25 years.
Bob was a graduate of Northwestern High School in Raymond, a veteran of the United States Navy and a longtime member of Millcreek Church of Christ. He was a former member and past master of Newton Lodge No. 249 F & AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus and Aladdin Shrine. He was presently a member of Mt. Carmel Lodge No. 303 F & AM. He was Knight of York Cross of Honor.
He was a member of American Legion Union Post 79, the Union County Historical Society, the Ohio Historical Society, the George Rogers Clark Historical Assn. and was an Honorary Kentucky Colonel. Bob was also a member of the Piqua Shawnee Tribe of Alabama.
A member of the Discovery Expedition of St. Charles, he had a great passion for the Lewis and Clark expedition reenactment and had the opportunity to portray his ancestor, George Shannon for the project. He was instrumental in helping with the vast task of planning and coordinating the L & C reenactment.
He will be remembered for his love of history, the outdoors, nature and playing the piano.
He was born February 9, 1941 in Columbus to the late James Jackson and Jeanne Cashell Anderson. He was also predeceased by his sister, Barbara Patterson; his second wife, Deanna; and his grandson, Jordan Michael Loftis.
He is survived by his children, Jeanne Anderson of Georgia, Jody Anderson of Marysville, Robert (Jeannie) Anderson, Jr. of Mississippi, Sarah (Ken) Thompson of Arizona and James “Ed” (Jill) Anderson of Woodstock; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brothers, Michael (Mieke) Anderson, Steve (Helena) Anderson and Charles “Chris” (Lee) Perry; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 6, 2021 at Underwood Funeral Home where the family will receive friends beginning at 11 a.m.
Interment with military honors will follow the service at Raymond Cemetery.
