Scott A. Ortman, 49, of Marysville, died unexpectedly Sunday evening, Feb. 3, 2019, at Memorial Hospital in Marysville following a cardiac event.
He was an associate with JPMorgan Chase in Columbus and was formerly employed by the Worthington and Marysville School districts.
He was active in coaching both his girls’ traveling teams through the Heart of Ohio organization. He went back to college to continue his education and obtained his Bachelor’s degree in accounting. He was a diehard fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, as well as the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals.
Among many things, he was a loving and devoted husband, father and son.
He was born July 23, 1969, in Lancaster, to Judith K. Smith Ortman of Pickerington and the late Ronald D. Ortman. In addition to his father, who died recently, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Sheri Ortman.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Jennifer M. Valentic Ortman, whom he married Aug. 15, 2007, in Marysville; children, Christine E., Nicholas S. and Breanna M. Ortman; in-laws, Frank and Theresa Kaminski, Birchard A. and Gloria J. Valentic; brothers and sisters in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; canine companion, Jake; and special friends, Tom and Amy Christian.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Ingram Funeral Home. The Rev. Sara McSwords will officiate funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Raymond United Methodist Church. Burial will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with his children’s current needs or to help with their future educational needs. Cards will be available at the funeral home.
