Shelvy J. Gillispie, 77, of Marysville, passed away Monday evening, May 6, 2024, at Memorial Gables after months of failing health.
One of four children, Shelvy was born May 14, 1946, in Webbville, Kentucky to the late William C. and Mabel (Jenkins) Blevins. A 1964 graduate of Fairbanks High School, Shelvy was a dedicated homemaker with her husband, Robert L. “Bob” Gillispie. A lifelong member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, her ministry was very important to her, and she loved Jehovah deeply. An avid poetry writer, she made many poems for family and friends through the years. Ornery and feisty, Shelvy was strong-willed and stubborn, and will always be remembered for her spitfire personality.
She is survived by her siblings, Louie Blevins, and Sharon (Mike) DeNoewer; sister-in-law Diana Blevins; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Along with her parents, Shelvy was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, December 9, 1997; a brother Bill Blevins; a sister-in-law Michelle Blevins; and her best friend Emiline Boyd – they were “spit and vinegar” together.
Graveside services will be held 11:30 am Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Milford Center Cemetery, “Come Lord Jesus!”
