According to Plain City Police Department reports:
Officer was flagged down and advised of a loose cow just off of Route 161 east of the corporation limit Apr. 30 at 8:23 p.m. Once assistance was no longer needed, the officer then returned to patrol.
Officer responded to South Jefferson Avenue in reference to an injury crash Apr. 30 at 10:25 a.m. The driver advised that the brakes on his van failed as he pulled into a parking space at the listed location. He then drove over the sidewalk and struck an ice cooler just to the south of the front door to the business. The damage was photographed and vehicle driver provided the Dollar General management with all of his contact information in order to pay for the damages.
An officer was dispatched to South Jeffersoon Avenue in reference to a parking complaint Apr. 30 at 12:28 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer met with the caller, an employee of First Flight Auto, who advised that a white Chevy Cavalier had been parked on the lot for about a week. No one knew who the vehicle belonged to or why it was there. The caller requested that the officer make contact with the owner and have the vehicle moved. The officer attempted to make contact with the registered owner. The officer will follow up on 05/01/19.
An officer received a complaint that a vehicle was parked in a handicap parking space with no placard On South Chillicothe Apr. 30 at 3:35 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer observed the black Toyota parked in the handicap space. The officer made contact with the driver who stated that she was not parking but that she had pulled into the spot to wait for her children. The officer advised driver that she could not block the spot. She apologized and moved the vehicle.
An officer was dispatched to West Main Street in reference to a subject who was disorientated Apr. 30 at 5:55 p.m. Prior to arrival, dispatch advised that the subject was an individual whom the officer had prior involvement with. The subject seemed confused and didn’t know where she was. Medic’s from Station 261 arrived on the scene and the subject requested to be transported to the hospital. Officers later determined that the subject’s vehicle was in the parking lot of South Chillicothe Street. The subject’s brother-in-law advised that he would come back later to retrieve the vehicle.
An officer responded to North Avenue in reference to a well-being check Apr. 30 at 5:58 p.m. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office stated that they had received a call stating that a female at the listed location had fallen several days earlier and had not received treatment. The caller was concerned that the patient would not go willingly with any medics. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the subject. Medic 261 then transported the subject to the hospital without incident. The officer then returned to patrol. Due to conditions of the residence, a copy of this report will be forwarded to the Union County Department of Jobs and Family Services.
Officer was requested by the MCSO to check in the area of Route 161 just east of the village limits for a disabled vehicle May 1 at 6 p.m. The officer patrolled the area but the vehicle was gone prior to the officer’s arrival.
An officer met with complainant at West Main Street May 1 at 9:37 a.m. The complainant showed the officer where someone had dropped off a fan and microwave near the donation box, but then someone threw both items off of the dock area onto the pavement, breaking both items. The officer told complainant that PCPD would try to provide additional patrols to deter this type of destructive activity.
An officer met with subject at his residence on Lantern Lane in reference to a driving complaint that had been called in by an anonymous complainant earlier in the morning on May 1 at 9:50 a.m. The complainant advised that subject was driving a 2006 Jeep when he passed another vehicle in the 300 block of Lantern Lane and it appeared subject was agitated. The officer explained that it was illegal to pass the vehicle and it was also unsafe for a variety of reasons.
An officer was advised of a black bicycle that had been abandoned against a tree right next to the water tower on East Bigelow Avenue May 1 at 1:03 p.m. The officer picked the bicycle up and took it back to the police department where it was secured in the shed.
On May 1 at 5 p.m., while on routine patrol, an officer observed a car seat sitting next to a vehicle in the driveway to the listed location. Upon closer inspection, the officer observed an infant in the car seat. The officer sat outside of the residence for 5-6 minutes and no one came to check on the infant. The officer made contact with infant’s father and advised him of the incident. Infant’s father apologized and stated that he just got home and ran inside for less than 10 minutes. The officer advised subject that this was unsafe for the child to be left alone in those circumstances for any length of time.
An officer was dispatched to North Avebue in reference to a loose canine complaint May 1 at 5:31 p.m. The complainant stated that there was a large brown/white dog running into traffic and people chasing it. Upon arrival to the area, the officer could not locate the canine in question. The officer met with complainant who stated that the owners had already come to get it. The officer then returned to patrol.
An officer received a call from a teacher at Plain City Elementary School who advised the officer that she wanted to report a situation regarding two students May 1 at 5:45 p.m. The teacher advised that the two students were to be staying the night at a friend’s house tonight, but she was afraid that they wouldn’t have a place to go after that. The officer made contact with the student’s grandmother, via public service. The grandmother advised the officer that all subjects were evicted from their residences. The grandmother advised that the children were staying at Smith-Calhoun Road for tonight and wasn’t sure where they would be staying tomorrow. Due to the circumstances, this incident will be forwarded to the MCDJFS for follow-up.
An officer responded to South Jefferson Avenue in reference to possible dispute/intoxicated person May 2 at 9:12 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the caller who advised the officer just prior to the officer’s arrival two men were arguing and appeared to be intoxicated. The caller advised they had left prior to the officer’s arrival and were traveling southbound on U.S. 42 in a blue Honda CRV. The officer forwarded MCSO and OSP of the vehicle description. Officer then returned to patrol.
On May 2 at 8:16 p.m., an officer met with complainant at her residence on South Chillicothe Street regarding the use of a drone. The complainant advised the officer that her neighbor was flying his drone over her residence while she was in the back yard. The caller advised that she confronted her neighbor and advised him that it was inappropriate for him to be flying it over her house and watching her. The neighbor told the complainant that there was nothing illegal about his actions and she requested to know her options. The officer advised the complainant that the flying of a drone was not illegal, unless neighbor was committing a specific criminal act or in violation of the FAA. The officer advised the complainant that if neighbor were to fly the drone to purposefully watch complainant and irritate the dog, then there is a possibility for criminal charges. The complainant did not want the officer to speak with the neighbor, but just wanted the incident documented in the event that it happened again.
An officer was traveling westbound on West Ave behind a brown Chevrolet pick-up Truck when the officer observed the vehicle fail to stop at a red light at the intersection of West Ave and South Jefferson Ave May 2 at 6:44 p.m. The officer initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle and made contact with the vehicle driver, Carl Harrow, his front seat passenger, and back seat passenger, Kevin Murray. After further investigation it was found Carl’s license was suspended. It was also found that Kevin had a statewide pick-up warrant out of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear on a traffic violation. The officer then had K-9 Andor complete an open air search of the vehicle. Andor gave positive alert to the front driver’s side door. During a probable cause search of the vehicle prescription narcotics were located inside the vehicle not belonging to the occupants. Kevin was later transported to the Tri-County Jail and booked in on his warrant. Carl was issued a traffic citation for Red Light, Failure to Reinstate X2, and No Valid OL. Front seat passenger was a valid driver and drove the vehicle away. Additional charges are pending.
An officer met with complainant at the police department May 2 at 11:50 a.m. The complainant advised the officer that her husband and she were at McDonalds on 04/13/2019. They believe that he accidentally left his wallet in the booth. They came back to the restaurant and inquired on the wallet, but none of the employees knew anything about it. The complainant didn’t think to report it at the time, but complainant needed a police report in order for husband to retrieve a new SSN card. The officer advised complainant that a report would be on file for her.
An officer was requested by the Union County Sheriff’s Office to respond to Lafayette-Plain City Road in reference to a possible burglary in progress May 2 at 1:16 a.m. After assistance was no longer needed, the officer returned to patrol.
