According to Plain City Police Department reports:
An officer observed a tan Saturn SUV traveling southbound on North Chillicothe Street stop 20-30 feet past the stop bar at the intersection of North Chillicothe and Main streets at 3:08 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30. The officer initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle and made contact with the driver of the vehicle, Cheyenne Smith, and her passengers. It was later found that none of the vehicle occupants had a valid driver’s license. Smith was later issued a traffic citation for no valid license and traffic control devices. The vehicle was then parked off the roadway so they could wait on a valid ride.
An officer was dispatched to North Chillicothe Street in reference to a theft – misdemeanor of stolen trash cans at 8:50 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 30. Upon arrival, the officer met with the caller who advised the officer that someone took her large grey wheeled trash cans that have Local Waste Service logos on them. The called advised the officer that they disappeared sometime overnight or early that morning. The officer advised the called that the can would be hard to locate since there are so many in the Village of Plain City. The caller advised that she just wanted to make PCPD aware.
An officer was dispatched to South Chillicothe Street in reference to a subject that was reportedly taking photographs of the residence the day before at 9:02 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 30. Upon arrival, the officer met with the caller who advised the officer that an unknown male reportedly driving a black Jeep had stopped and taken pictures of his house. The officer advised the caller that it is legal to photograph all things in public as long as they do not trespass on the property. The called advised he understood, he was just concerned. The officer advised the caller that if he sees the vehicle again to give the police department a call.
An officer was dispatched to Fairfield Drive in reference to a report of someone messing with lawn ornaments at 10:54 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 30. Upon arrival, the officer met with the caller who advised that someone knocked over her yard sign and an ornamental frog. The caller advised they were not damaged and she does not know who did it. The officer advised the caller to keep an eye on them and to call back if she observes someone messing with them.
An officer observed a white Dodge Dart parked on West Main Street at 7:51 p.m. the officer had prior knowledge that the vehicle owner, Quentin Snodgres, had active felony warrants out of the Union County Sheriff’s Office for trafficking heroin (two counts), involuntary manslaughter and possession of heroin. The officer requested a UCSO Deputy to assist the officer in an attempt to serve the warrant. Officers later made contact with Snodgres, where he was placed into custody by the deputy. During a probable cause search of the vehicle, the officer located two wax paper folds/bags full of a substance consistent with heroin. Snodgres was later transported to the Tri-County Regional Jail by the deputy.
An officer was dispatched to Fairfield Drive in reference to an open door at 11:44 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30.
An officer was requested to meet with the Village of Plain City Parks Director at Pastime Park in reference to a dog complain at 10:09 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 30. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant who advised the officer that a known male keeps letting his dogs run loose in the park. The complainant requested the officer make contact with the canine owner and advise him of the Plain City ordinance against dogs running loose. The officer then returned to patrol. Later the officer met with the canine owner at his residence and advised him of the complaint. He warned the individual of the consequences if the dogs were running loose again.
An officer was dispatched to South Chillicothe Street at the Municipal Building in reference to an open door at 4:46 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31.
An officer was dispatched to North Avenue in reference to civil dispute regarding a vehicle not being returned at 7:44 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31. Upon arrival, the officer met with the caller who advised the officer that she loaned her vehicle to her estranged husband yesterday and he had not brought it back yet. The officer advised the caller that it is a civil issue, but the officer would attempt to contact her husband about the car. The officer attempted to contact the suspect and left a voicemail. The officer then returned to patrol. A short time later, the officer received a call back from the suspect and advised him of the complaint. The suspect advised that he would return the vehicle shortly. The officer contacted the caller and gave her the information.
An officer conducted a routine registration check on a maroon Hyundai four-door at Plain City-Georgesville Road at 8:11 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31. The officer learned that the registered owner, Alma Zablocki, had an entered warrant for her arrest out of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. Dispatch confirmed the warrant (FTA – property damage). With another officer as backup, the officer initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle on the lot of Mike’s Pit Stop. Zablocki was placed into custody without incident. She permitted the second officer to park her vehicle, with the business’s permission, on the southwest side of the property. The officer transported Zablocki to the Tri-County Regional Jail and released her into their custody.
An officer was dispatched to West Main Street in reference to a well-being check at 5:44 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1. The officer was unable to make contact with the subject even though her personal vehicle was parked outside the apartment. The only door to gain entry was locked. The officer was able to get in touch with her through her son, who advised that he had spoken with his mother at approximately 3 p.m. but would contact her early in the evening to make sure she was alright. The officer then returned to patrol. At 7:37 p.m. the subject called the officer and advised that the woman was at home all day watching television but did not hear knocks or calls.
An officer was dispatched to North Avenue in reference to a 911 follow-up at 11:19 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 2. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the caller who advised that her Apple watch called 911 accidentally. After determining everything to be okay, the officer returned to patrol.
An officer observed a red Jeep pull into Pastime Park on North Chillicothe Street at 12:09 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 2. The officer made contact with the driver who stated that he had carpooled earlier in the night with his passenger and had returned to the park to drop her off at her vehicle. The officer advised both parties that the park was closed after midnight. Both subjects stated that they were unaware the park was closed and that they would be leaving. The officer then returned to patrol.
An officer was dispaAn officer was dispatched to Willowbrook Court in reference to telecommunications harassment at 7:18 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 2. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the complainant who stated that the mother of his child sent a message that did not have to do with their child and violated their custody agreement. The officer then made contact with the subject. The subject was warned to keep their conversations only in reference to the exchance of their child. The officer then returned to patrol.
Officers were dispatched to West South Street in reference to a possible domestic violence incident at 9:36 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3. The caller stated that his mother slapped him in the face and he was bleeding. Upon arrival, the officer met with the caller and his mother who were in a verbal altercation. The caller admitted that his mom smacked him to calm him down. The caller was advised that he needed to obey his mother at all times. The mother declined to pursue unruly charges at the time.
An officer was dispatched to North Avenue in reference to recovered drug paraphernalia at 1:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Upon arrival, the officer met with the apartment manager who advised that she was cleaning out an apartment after an eviction and discovered two needles that appeared to be used. The officer took the needles and placed them in the sharps container.
An officer was dispatched to West Main Street in reference to a well-being check at 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4. The complainant, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that there were people living in a red car at the listed location. Upon arrival, the officer met with both subject and advised them of the complaint. After determining everything to be fine, the officer returned to patrol.
An officer was requested as backup by UCSO deputies to assist them in locating a subject with a warrant at 7:53 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4.
An officer was requested by a caller to meet her at Noteman Road so she could pick up her son at 7:16 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4. The officer met with the caller and eventually located her son. The son retrieved some of his belongings from the listed location. The caller asked if the officer could assist them in going to the son’s father’s residence to pick up the rest of his clothing. The officer and a MCSO deputy met at Smith-Calhoun Road where the son retrieved his property.
An officer responded in reference to a warrant – misdemeanor at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4. The officer learned that David Rhein was staying at North Avenue. Rhein had two entered warrants (confirmed) out of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office FTA for traffic offenses. With another officer as backup, the officers made contact with Rhein and placed him into custody without incident. The officer transported Rhein to the Tri-County Regional Jail where he was released into their custody.
An officer was contacted via phone at the Police Department by a complainant who advised that she felt her ex-boyfriend was stalking and harassing her at 12:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4. The complainant advised that her ex-boyfriend had called her numerous times and her mailbox was full of messages. She also advised that the subject has driven past her residence and workplace multiple times since. The complainant requested that the officer contact the ex-boyfriend and advise him to stop contacting her and harassing her.
An officer responded to an unclassified incident on Madison Avenue at 12:05 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4. The officer was met on station by a complainant who advised the officer that on Satuday, Aug. 31 his daughter and a friend were walking home when they passed an address on Central Avenue and waived to a man that was outside. A few minutes after arriving at the complainant’s residence, the man sent a Facebook message to the friend and asked who she was, how she knew him and how old she was. The complainant advised that he later found out that the man was a registered sex offender and then felt that he should notify the police department of the incident. He advised that there was really nothing to the messages sent, but wanted the police to know about the contact. The officer then contacted MCSO, who is in charge of sex offender registrations, and advised the deputy of the incident. The deputy requested that the officer speak with the suspect and advise him to cease contacting either of the girls. Another officer will attempt to follow up with the suspect about this incident.
An officer responded to a parking complain on Carriage Drive at 4:54 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5. An officer observed a homemade trailer parked on the street, which has been sitting on the road for several weeks. The officer attempted to make contact with the owner but was unsuccessful. At 7:10 p.m., the officer received a call from the trailer owner. The officer advised the trailer owner of the ordinance and that his trailer needed to be moved off the roadway. The trailer owner apologized and was unaware of the ordinance. The caller also stated that he would park it in his garage.
An officer responded to a parking complaint at Frontier Communications on East Main Street at 4:47 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5. The officer observed a black Cadillac parked there that had a “For Sale” sign in the front windshield. The officer made contact with the owner and advised him of the situation. The officer also advised the vehicle owner that PCPD has addressed this on several occasions and he wasn’t permitted to have a vehicle for sale while parked on the roadway. The vehicle owner apologized and stated that he would remove the sign.
An officer was requested by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office to conduct a well-being check on Smith-Calhoun Road at 4:29 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5. After determining everything to be fine, the officer returned to patrol.
Police responded to a report of suspicious circumstances on Wesley Avenue at 2:24 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5. Dispatch advised the officer that the caller stated he was inside of his house when he heard someone pushing on his windows and doors. Upon arrival, the officer searched the area but did not locate anyone. The officer did not observe any footprints or any signs of entry.
An officer met with a complainant at the police department in reference to a civil standby at 5:47 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6. The complainant advised that he was waiting for his ex-daughter-in-law to bring his grandson to the police department for a custody exchange. The ex-daughter-in-law showed up and custody was exchanged without incident.
An officer was dispatched to Pastime Park to meet with Franklin County Children Services in reference to the removal of children at 4:47 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6.
An officer was dispatched to a non-injury crash at Route 161 (West Main Street) and U.S. 42 at 12:38 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6. Upon arrival, an officer met with Roberta Edgerton, driver of a blue 2019 Nissan Rogue and the driver of a maroon Honda Accord Crosstour. Edgerton advised the officer she failed to observe she had a red light. An officer later issued Edgerton a citation for a red light violation. Both vehicles were then driven from the scene.
An officer responded to the area south of South Chillicothe Street in reference to possible gunshots at 10:27 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7. Upon arrival, an officer checked the area but was unable to locate anything out of ordinary.
An officer observed a vehicle traveling eastbound on West Main Street near West Bigelow Avenue with no operational exterior lights at 8:46 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7. An officer initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle and made contact with the driver and the passenger. The driver was given a warning for the light violation.
Police responded to a 911 unknown on Butler Avenue at 11:26 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8. An officer responded to the field just west of Butler Avenue. Upon arrival, the officer checked the area but was unable to locate anything out of the ordinary. Dispatch stated the subject the phone number returned to. The officer then responded to the subject’s residence. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the subject who stated that she was cleaning inside and dialed 911 by accident.
