According to Plain City Police Department reports:
An officer received a suspicious call at the police department at 12:05 p.m. Feb. 21. Fearing that the subject could be in danger, officers went to the subject’s last listed address, on Willowbrook Court. Upon arrival, officers contacted the resident, who stated that the subject was with her new boyfriend at another location. Officers contacted the subject via public service, who stated that she was safe but had consumed “a lot of whiskey.” Officers forwarded the information to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, who advised that they would send a deputy to the address to check the subject’s well-being.
A subject came into the police department at 11:54 a.m. Feb. 21 to advise officers that she found a black iPhone at the intersection of Main Street and Chillicothe Avenue. The officer contacted the phone owner, who stated that he dropped the phone during the snowstorm the previous week. The phone owner said he would come to PCPD to retrieve the phone.
Officers were requested by the Union County Sheriff’s Office at 1:55 a.m. Feb. 18 for a suspicious person. Dispatch advised the description of a male and advised he was last seen walking on U.S. 42. The officer confirmed the male had the same description as a subject the officer had “dealt with” earlier in his shift. Officers patrolled the area but were unable to locate the subject.
An officer responded to Lewis Circle at 5:38 p.m. Feb. 20 in reference to a driving complaint. Upon arrival, the officer located the vehicle parked in the area. The officer informed the suspect of the complaint. The suspect stated that she would pay more attention while driving and that it would not happen again.
Officers responded to Pastime Park at 5:19 p.m. Feb. 20 in reference to several suspicious vehicles.
An officer was dispatched to Shepper Avenue at 3:35 a.m. Feb. 20 in reference to a 911 follow-up.
A complainant advised she was driving on Village Blvd. and saw an unknown bald figure in her back seat at 9:11 p.m. Feb. 19. Officers determined everything to be O.K.
Officers responded to the intersection of Plain City-Georgesville Road and Converse Huff Road for a suspicious person at 3:50 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19. Officers made contact with Orlando Garnes, who had an active warrant for his arrest out of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear in court. Officers contacted Marressa Crane, who was advised to retrieve Garnes’ personal property. It was learned that Crane also had an active warrant out of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear in court. Garnes and Crane were transported to the Tri-County Regional Jail.
Officers responded to Pastime Park at 2:02 a.m. Feb. 19 in reference to a suspicious person. Officers determined everything to be O.K.
An officer was advised of a silver Honda that was stuck in the ditch on Route 161 at 7:23 a.m. Feb. 18. Upon arrival, officer found the vehicle about one-fourth of a mile west of Warner Road. The driver of the vehicle advised that she already had AAA on their way to pull her out of the ditch. Due to the poor road conditions and the high volume of traffic on the road at that time, the officer remained on the scene for her safety. The officer also advised the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, who advised they would be on the way as well. Once the traffic flow eased, the officer placed flares on the road near her vehicle to draw extra attention to the scene.
An officer responded to North Avenue at 9:17 a.m. Feb. 18 to a report of a non-breathing individual. The female subject asked that officers take all of the paraphernalia and remaining drugs out of the apartment. The officer seized all of it as evidence. Medics transported both subjects to the hospital.
An officer received a phone call at 1:02 p.m. Feb. 18 from a complainant who advised that the complainant’s employer notified her that an unemployment claim had been filed in her name. The officer advised the complainant to contact the Department of Job and Family Services to report the fraud and also advised her of the resources available through the Attorney General’s Office regarding the scam. The complainant thanked the officer and said she would contact both agencies.
Officers responded to the Municipal Building on Village Blvd. at 8:07 p.m. in response to an identity theft complaint. The complainant advised his employer had received unemployment paperwork. He said he already contacted the Department of Job and Family Services, so the officer advised him to report the incident to the Attorney General’s Office as well.
An officer was on patrol and observed a tractor semi parked outside in the driveway of Cohesion Paper Product on South Jefferson Avenue at 1:26 a.m. Feb. 17. The officer made contact with the occupant, who advised he was making a delivery at Cohesion Paper and showed proper paperwork.
An officer received a call from a complainant at 9:15 a.m. Feb. 17 in reference to parking and access issues to her business as a result of the road construction project that recently began on Gay Street. The officer referred the complainant to the Village Administrator.
An officer noticed a small hatchback in front of the North Avenue Apartments parked partially on the roadway at 10:50 a.m. Feb. 17. It was “obvious” to the officer that the car was parked in this manner due to the snow in front of the building. The officer tried to make contact with the registered owner, but nobody answered the door. Before leaving, a neighbor advised that they would try to contact the vehicle owner to have him move it. The officer returned a few minutes later and the vehicle had been moved.
An officer received an anonymous call regarding a suspicious person on South Chillicothe Street at 9 p.m. Feb. 17. Officers made contact with a suspect who stated that his truck broke down at Marathon in town and walked over to the listed location to wait for a ride home. While the suspect was speaking to the officer, the suspect admitted to having marijuana in his front right shirt pocket. The suspect voluntarily handed over the marijuana and it was seized. The suspect was advised that no charges would be filed against him. He remained at the location to wait for his ride.
The officer was dispatched to Shell on South Jefferson Avenue at 10:50 p.m. Feb. 17 in reference to a suspicious person. The officer made contact with the subject who advised he walked in the business to keep warm for a few minutes. The officer advised the subject that business was closing soon and that the employee could not close with him inside the business. The subject declined a ride and advised the officer he would walk home. The subject left on foot and the officer stayed at the gas station until the employee locked up.
An officer was requested by the Union County Sheriff’s Office to meet at the police department to complete a Blood Alcohol Concentration test on his arrestee at 11:45 p.m. Feb. 17.
A complainant called the police department stating that people were at his door on North Avenue “wanting to fight him” at 4:13 p.m. Feb. 16. After all parties calmed down, officers returned to patrol
A complainant called the police department at 9:34 p.m. Feb. 16 alerting that his vehicle was dead on North Chillicothe Street and requested a jump start.
