According to Plain City Police Department reports:
An officer was dispatched to Mike’s Pit Stop on West Main Street in reference to a drive-off of gasoline at 5:42 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5. The caller advised that an unknown person drove off in a black truck, unknown make or model, after getting $80.21 in gasoline. Upon arrival to the arrival, the officer did not locate the vehicle. The officer then met with the caller while other officers continued to check the area.
An officer responded to East Bigelow Avenue in reference to wires down in the resident’s backyard at 2:38 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5. Upon arrival, the officer found the wires to be telephone lines. The officer checked with the houses in the immediate area and nobody had any loss of service. The address and the pole number were relayed to dispatch who was going to contact the appropriate utility company. The wire was moved to the back edge of the property.
An officer was dispatched to U.S. 42 north of Route 161 west for a possible injury crash at 2:08 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5. Upon arrival, the officer learned it was a non-injury crash involving two semi-trucks. Unit 1, a 2015 Volvo semi hauling a trailer was southbound on U.S. 42 northbound when it struck Unit 2, a 2019 Freightliner semi hauling a trailer, from behind. This caused disabling damage to Unit 1. Unit 2’s trailer received disabling damage as well. The officer spoke with the driver of Unit 1, Coryell Stephenson, and learned that Unit 2 slowed way down with no brake lights coming on. Unit 1 then struck the rear of Unit 2. The driver of Unit 1 was later issued a citation for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.
An officer responded to the Wendy’s on Route 161 at the request of the Union County Sheriff’s Office in reference to an alarm drop at 12:44 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5.
An officer was on patrol and observed a backpack on the playground at Plain City Elementary School on South Chillicothe Street at 12:27 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5. The officer checked the backpack and found identification. The officer made contact with the subject’s husband, then returned the property.
An officer was on patrol and observed a red 2008 Hyundai SUV with the interior light on on Fanshell Drive at 12:12 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5. The officer then checked the vehicle and attempted to make contact with the vehicle owner, but was unsuccessful. The officer then left a business card on the vehicle that advised the subject to contact the police department with any issues.
An officer was on patrol and observed a light blue 2014 Hyundai Sonata parked on the northside of the roadway, which is prohibited, on Alderwood Circle at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5. The officer then made contact with the vehicle owner at the listed location. The vehicle was moved without issue.
An officer was on patrol and observed a silver Toyota parked illegally on Fanshell Drive at 8:07 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7. The officer then made contact with the owner who moved the vehicle to a valid parking space.
An officer was dispatched to North Mechanic Street in reference to a 911 follow-up at 9:11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7. Dispatch advised that a juvenile had been playing with the phone. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the phone owner who advised the officer that her day care kids had been playing with her cell phone and hit the emergency button.
An officer was dispatched to the Shell Station/Subway on South Jefferson Avenue in reference to a male asking people for a ride at 8:29 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7. Upon arrival, the officer located the subject. Upon speaking to the subject, he advised the officer a friend dropped him off earlier due to forgetting his keys at home. The subject advised he did not want to go home and wake his 86-year-old mother up to let him in. The subject further advised he was just asking for a ride due to the weather (rain and cold). The officer advised the subject he would drive him to his residence. The officer advised the caller he was driving the subject home. Once at the subject’s residence, the officer advised the subject not to go to the Shell and attempt to solicit rides anymore and the subject advised he understood.
Officers responded to an alarm drop at the Marathon/Lovejoy Food Mart on West Main Street at 5:28 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7.
An officer was dispatched to Maple Street in reference to a domestic dispute at 12:26 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8. The caller advised that his ex-wife was arguing over property. Upon arrival, the officer met with both parties. The caller advised they are divorced but live together and the ex-wife allegedly kept accusing the caller of moving her stuff around. Both agreed to separate for the day and talk once they’ve calmed down.
An officer was dispatched to Jefferson Street in reference to unwanted calls at 1:24 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8. Upon arrival, the officer met with the caller who advised she keeps getting phone calls from different soliciting companies and wanted to know what she could do. The officer advised the caller that the officer understood her concern and advised her to contact the Federal Trade Commission and file a complaint on the companies. The officer provided the caller the contact number and advised her that they will communicate with the companies on her behalf. The caller thanked the officer for the information and advised she will have her son call for her later.
An officer met with the owner of Mike’s Pit Stop at the location on West Main Street at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8. The owner advised the officer that a subject had written two checks that were returned non-sufficient funds. The owner requested that the officer make contact with the subject about the issue. The officer made contact with the subject at her residence and advised her of the checks. The subject was given until Nov. 15 to pay them in full or she could face criminal charges. The officer will follow up with the owner on that date to verify that the subject has taken care of them.
An officer was requested by the Union County Sheriff’s Office to assist with a deer crash that occurred on Route 161 west of the village limits with a possible injury involved at 7:06 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8. The officer stood by until a UCSO deputy arrived.
Officers observed a 2012 Hyundai sedan traveling westbound at a high rate of speed on West Main Street at 10:52 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8. Officers conducted a traffic stop at W. Main Street and Converse Drive. The officers then made contact with Latoria Williams. She was issued a citation for speed.
Officers responded to the Marathon/Lovejoy Food Mart on West Main Street in reference to a drive-off at 11:44 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with an employee who advised a black Honda Civic got fuel and left without paying. The officer later made contact with the vehicle owner’s boyfriend. The boyfriend advised that he would go to the listed location and take care of it. Later, the officer made contact with the business and learned the boyfriend had paid for the fuel.
An officer responded to Carriage Drive in reference to a non-injury hit-skip that occurred in front of South Chillicothe Street between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Upon arrival around 8:18 p.m., the officer spoke with the vehicle owner who advised the officer her vehicle was parked in front of the listed location. The vehicle owner advised she came out to her vehicle and found her driver side mirror broken. The officer took photographs of the damage. The officer surveyed the scene where the incident occurred to see if there was any debris in the roadway.
An officer observed the rear hatch of a gold Chevy Terrain standing open at Lee’s Sports and Spirits on West Bigelow Avenue at 12:14 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9. The officer made contact with the vehicle’s owner inside the listed location. The door was closed and everything checked out O.K.
An officer responded to Route 736 at the request of the Union County Sheriff’s Office in reference to an alarm drop at 4:01 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9.
An officer was on patrol and observed a silver Volkswagen SUV parked on Alderwood Circle. The vehicle was parked over a foot from the curb and facing against the traffic flow. The officer made contact with the vehicle driver, who was advised to move the vehicle. The vehicle owner did so without incident. The vehicle owner was given a warning for the parking violation.
Officers responded to an alarm drop on Stenner Ct. at 7:27 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9.
An officer was requested by the Union County Sheriff’s Office to respond with their units in reference to a possible domestic violence incident on Hickory Ridge Road at 1:25 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10.
An officer responded to Red Knot Court in reference to a 911 unknown at 6:45 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the caller who stated that he was playing on his phone when it accidentally dialed 911. The caller stated that his parents had just left the residence to take their dog for a walk. The officer made contact with the caller’s mother who thanked the officer for notifying her and stated that she would return home shortly.
An officer observed a black Ford SUV driving slow around the Plain City Druggist at 8:09 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10. The officer made contact with the driver of the vehicle who stated that he was practicing his driving skills in the area. His mother, a valid driver, was a passenger and helping him with his driving. After speaking with both parties, it did not appear any criminal activity was afoot.
An officer was dispatched to the area on a 911-only, wireless hang-up at 9:04 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10. Madison County dispatch advised that the call plotted to the area around Madison Square Apartments. Upon arrival, the officer was unable to locate the source of the call or any other signs of distress or emergency in the area. The officer spoke with a couple of residents and they did not hear anything out of the ordinary.
An officer was on patrol and observed a 2011 Ford tow truck parked on Gay Street near W. Main Street with its parking lights on at 11:52 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10. It was secured. The officer contacted the company and left a voicemail of the officer’s findings.
An officer was on patrol and observed a 2013 blue Honda Civic with its interior light on at 11:54 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10. The officer made contact with the registered owner’s father. The father advised the vehicle owner must have left it on by accident.
The officer responded to Route 161 at the request of the Union County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a disabled vehicle at 10:21 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11.
Officers were dispatched to Memorial Drive in reference to an alarm drop at 5:15 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11.
Police responded to the scene of a hit-skip non-injury crash on Route 161 eastbound at 4:19 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11.
An officer was dispatched to U.S. 42 N at the request of the Union County Sheriff’s Office in reference to an injury accident at 8:43 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11.
