113th Richwood Fair gets underway

The 113th Richwood Independent Fair began Wednesday, Aug. 31 for a six-day run. Opening ceremonies were held at 7 a.m. with animal weigh-ins,
demonstrations and judgings being held throughout the day. Major (Gold) sponsors this year include: Cogburn Electric, Farm Credit Services of Mid America, Mills Chevrolet-Pontiac, M.J. Knapp Insurance, Inc., Mt. Eight candidates vie for four village seats
Better set aside more time for voting on Tuesday, Nov. 8.  as there are more than a few issues and elected seats to be decided.     Eight candidates will be on the November ballot seeking the four Village
Council seats now occupied by Arlene Blue, Wade McCalf,  George Showalter and Peg Wiley.
    Blue, McCalf, Showalter and Wiley submitted petitions and will try to
retain their Council positions. Challenging them will be Cynthia K.
Blackburn, James I. Dew. Julie A. Tum-eo and James K. Thompson.

Village hires new employees;
discusses Phase III issues

At the Monday, Aug. 22 Village of Richwood Council meeting, Raymond Miller was hired as  Village Administrator at a salary of $49,000 per year. (see related article below)
Police Chief Rick Asher sought Council¹s approval to employ two new
officers  which were selected from several applicants. Council approved
(Arlene Blue voting no) to employ Becky Frasier, who has 19 years
experience, as a full-time officer at a rate of $9.91 per hour. Jamie Stoops
was hired as a part-time  officer at a rate of $8.61 per hour. Stoops has
just completed his schooling and has some experience with the Morrow County Law Enforcement.(for full story subscribe to the Richwood Gazette)

Miller hired as new Village Administrator
Richwood Mayor Bill Nibert has announced that Raymond L. Miller has been hired as Village Adminis-trator.
Miller began his Water/Wastewater career after serving 22 years in the

NU shows improvement
on new state report card
The Ohio Department of Education released data for the 2004-05 school and
district report cards. The Report Cards will be printed and sent to all
parents of K-12 students in the coming weeks.
Reports show North Union met 13 of the state¹s 23 performance standards,

Hall of Pride inductees
North Union High School has selected Kathryn Sieg Heinzerling, Dr. Thomas E.
Baker, and  John D. McEl-heny as the  2005-2006 Hall of Pride inductees.
Nomi-nees were reviewed for their accomplishments, honors or recognition in

Village Council re-discusses issue of warrant payments

At the Monday, Aug. 8 Village of Richwood Council meeting, members again
discussed the issue of the approval of warrants. Fiscal Officer Don Jolliff
had stated, at the meeting held on July 25, that when he presents warrants
to Council, they are not for their approval to be paid, they are presented
so Council can acknowledge what bills have already been paid.
 Jolliff informed Council that payments will not be mailed without approval
of the Village Administrator.  Since the position of the Village
Administrator is currently vacant, Mayor Bill Nibert will approve the

Gibson inducted into racing Halls of Fame

and accomplishing legendary feats.
    Todd Gibson fits both those molds, as he was inducted into the Sandusky

Zebu help couple over the humps

Gary and Fran Inskeep of Miller Rd. keep horses, beautiful Pinto and
quarter horses. They breed, train, show and sell them. And, they have some
very good, prize-winning stock.
But, the most unusual and out-of-the-ordinary critters are the miniature
Zebu cattle. Driving by their farm and catching a glimpse of the
humped-back, horned, gray and brown little bovine, transports one, for a
