Council approves Economic Development Incentive Policy
By CATHY MILLER   Village Council unanimously approved the Economic Development Incentive Program (EDIP) when they met in regular session on Monday, Feb. 13. Village Solons had previously rejected this same plan by a vote of 2-3 at the November 15, 2005 meeting. At that time, Council members Jim Ford and Peg Wiley had favored the program with Wade McCalf, George Showalter and Arlene Blue casting the dissenting votes. Council member Scott Jerew was absent at that meeting.

Library to be named in honor of Barbara Holcomb
Submitted by: Supt. Carol Young   The North Union Local Board of Education took action to officially designate the library at North Union High School as the Barbara A. Holcomb Student Media Center at a meeting held February 13.

Family Dollar Store to open in Richwood
A Family Dollar Store will be opening in Richwood sometime this summer, according to Jeff Dortmund,
owner of Cornerstone P.G., L.L.C., new owner of the property located at 347 E. Blagrove St.

Richwood Police/SRT apprehend suspect
  A Richwood Police Officer who was on patrol Satur- day, Feb. 4 at 4:30 a.m., discovered a partially
clothed female walking on North Franklin Street.   Upon investigation, it was discovered that the female
had allegedly been involved in a violent domestic incident. She told the officer that she had been assaulted
and that her life had been threatened. However, she ultimately was able to escape from the residence and
that is when the officer found her. She was then transported to Memorial Hospital of Union County for
treatment and was later released.

 LadyCat softball facility getting a timely facelift

    A year ago at this time, the common perception was that the 2005 season
would be the final one for the North Union High School varsity softball
field.    What a difference a year makes.
