Council learns about the Storm Water Management Program

Village of Richwood Coun-cil was addressed by Ed Bischoff, of Bischoff,
Miller, & Associates when  they met in regular session on Mon-day, Jan. 23.

Richwood Police release 2005 stats and citations
Police Chief, Rick Asher, released information on citations and calls that
were handled by the Richwood Police Department during 2005.
    The computer generated report revealed that nearly 1,000 calls were
received and 433 written reports resulted from those calls.

North Union FFA responds to hurricane tragedy

Hurricane Katrina, which hit Louisiana and other states earlier this year,
was tragic for many people.  The North Union FFA decided that the group
would like to raise money to help with relief efforts.

Ledley named new secretary; livestock "pen drives" underway
Members of The Richwood Independent Fair Board have announced that Lynne
Ledley has been hired as fair secretary. She began her new duties effective
January 1, 2006.

Two pound puppy grows up to have a heart of a lion

We are too often indebted to our pets. They illicit from us loyalties we
cannot always express. Sometimes these allegiances surface amidst great
sadness and fear. ³She drank nothing but tears,² gulps Kathleen Cooley of
Webb Rd., as she stroked and kissed her miniature wire-haired dachshund, Gi
Gi.

Showalter elected Council President

Village Solicitor Rick Rodger swore in Council members Jim Thompson, Peg
Wiley, Wade McCalf, and George Showalter to their four-year term at the
Monday, Jan 9 Village of Richwood Council meeting. Thompson, the newest
member to Council, replaces Arlene Blue.
  Showalter, nominated by McCalf, was elected as Pres-ident of Council and
was vo-cally approved unanimously by the other solons.

North Union School Board discusses goals for 2006

At the Monday, January 9, North Union Board of Education meeting, Board
members discussed the goals for the 2006-07 school year.
Their main objective will be to recruit, employ, and provide transitional
support to a new superintendent for North Union. Another important issue for
2006 is to strengthen board operations through training on areas needed.

Father turns wrenches over to his son; Dotson retires from family business

In 1964, Edsel Dotson opened an auto maintenance shop in a small garage in
Magnetic Springs. His plan was to work on vehicles for a living. By 1978,
his business outgrew that facility and his dream grew bigger.
    That year, a new Dotson¹s Garage was built  at its present location at
the corner of State Routes 37 and 347. The business has continued to expand
ever since.
