Showalter informed council members about the facelift the park will be
receiving when they met in regular session on Monday, Aug. 27. Council
members Von Beal and Jim Thompson were absent.
Hall of Pride
honorees named The North Union High School Hall of Pride selection committee
has chosen two Richwood/North Union graduates to receive the Hall of Pride
Award. The awards ceremony will be held at the first home North Union
football game on Friday, Sept. 7, at 6:15 p.m. on the football field. A
reception will be held at 5:30 p.m. in their honor prior to the
ceremony.
Leesburg Township Trustees to host open house - Sept.
8 The Leesburg Township Trustees will hold an open house to be held at
the new fire station and road maintenance/storage building, located at
12985 St. Rt. 347. The new facility is situated between Magnetic Springs
and Pharisburg and will serve as the Leesburg Township Fire Department.
The building will also be used for storage of township equipment.

Kaczmarek, local representative of Honeywell, informed North Union Board of
Education members about the Instant Alert Program when they met in regular
session on Monday, August 20.
115 years of history for the Richwood
Fair The Richwood Independent Fair has a rich history of agriculture.
For years area residents have planted gardens expecting to bring in
their produce or flowers to compete with their neighbors and friends.
4-H children raised their livestock projects, nurtured them and
prepared the animals for their respective shows during the fair. All of
these traditions will come alive Wednesday, Aug. 29, through Labor Day,
Sept. 3. at the local fairgrounds.
Candidate Filing Deadline for
November 6 General Election The Union County Board of Elections is reminding
any candidate wishing to run in the Tuesday, Nov. 6 election that the filing
deadline is Thursday, Aug. 23.
Resident suggests that council preserve the town clock By: LEIGH ANN
GLASS Richwood area resident Ted Reynolds addressed council members about
the town clock when they met in regular session on Monday, August
13.
The numbers are in - Springenfest was a success! The 30th
anniversary of Springenfest was deemed a success by members of the North
Union Athletic Complex (NUAC) at their board meeting last week. With all the
figures in, the group along with the support of the community, helped raise
$15,000 for NUAC.
Are you ready for the 115th Richwood Independent
Fair? 4-H and FFA members are putting their final touches on their
livestock projects in preparation for the upcoming Richwood Fair. Fair
board members are organizing the barns, touch-up paint jobs and last
minute odd jobs to welcome visitors to the local fairgrounds, Wednesday,
Aug. 29 through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 3.
Park Day dampened by rain, not spirits Those who know and love The Richwood
Park and Lake showed their support, despite the rainy weather Sunday, Aug. 5
for Park Day.
Magnetic Springs 2nd annual Mini-Fest August 11 The
village of Magnetic Springs will come alive Saturday, Aug. 11, with a variety
of family events held throughout the day. All activities will be held between
the Leesburg Township Fire House and the park area on Magnetic
Street.
School board holds special session on hiring and personnel
matters The North Union Board of Education held a special meeting on
Monday making last minute preparations for the upcoming school
year.
Former Richwood Bank Vice President Dies James Sheridan "Jim"
Jobe, age 59, of Marysville, died Friday, August 3, 2007 at Riverside
Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
Former school teacher indicted Charges
were filed last week against Tommy C. Hansen, age 55, of Bellville, for
criminal use of a chemical weapon, allegedly involved in a chemical spill of
mercury at the Morrow County Courthouse on June 27, 2007. He is also facing
four charges of gross sexual imposition, charges allege he had inappropriate
contact with three girls under the age of 13 at a campground Hansen owns in
Mt. Gilead.
