Candidates seek NU School Board/NCOESC seats
Voters in the North Union School District will be casting ballots for
their choice of candidates on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

Voters to decide tax issues
at November 6 election
There are several tax issues voters will be asked to approve at the
upcoming Tuesday, Nov. 6 election. Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to
7:30 p.m.

Drive-thru Flu Clinic to Serve as Training Exercise

French fries, burgers, and diet pop are not the only items being served
at your local drive-thru anymore.  Flu shots are now on the to-go menu
as the Union County Health Department unveils its first ever drive-thru
flu clinic.  The clinic, scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 31 at the Union
County Fairgrounds from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., will serve as a test of the
health department's emergency response capabilities.

Since 2002, the North Union Local School District has seen a positive
wave of improvements in preparing this community's schools for the next
50 years.

Voters in northern Union County will be casting ballots for their choice
of candidates on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

North Union School Superintendent Rick Smith approached council
regarding the middle school property when they met in regular session on Monday.

Music is in the air in Richwood
The Signet Sound School of Performing Arts has opened in downtown Richwood.

RABA to host Meet the Candidates event
The Richwood Area Business Association (RABA) will host a "meet the
candidates" night on Tuesday, Oct. 30. The public is invited to meet
Richwood Mayor Bill Nibert plus Arlene Blue and Cindy Blackburn, two
candidates challenging for that position.

Candidates vie for Trustee and Fiscal Officer positions

Over the next few weeks, The Richwood Gazette will be featuring profiles
submitted by the candidates. In this issue, those running for Township
Trustee and Township Fiscal Clerk will be featured.

Flu clinics scheduled
Richwood set for October 19
The Union County Health Department, in partnership with Memorial
Hospital of Union County, have announced the 2007-2008 adult flu clinic schedule.

Richwood resident, Jim Inskeep of 235 E. Ottawa St., approached council
members regarding the cleanup of the Ottawa Ditch Storm Sewer Project
when they met in regular session on Monday, Oct. 8.  Council members Von
Beal and Wade McCalf were absent.

Ohio Quarter Horse Congress kicks-off
world's largest single-breed horse show
The Ohio Quarter Horse Association is now hosting the 41st annual All
American Quarter Horse Congress at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus. The
event runs daily through Sunday, Oct. 28.

UCSO adds patrols for homecoming weekend
The Union County Sheriff's Office will have extra patrol officers in the
county this fall looking specifically for drivers impaired by alcohol.

Drivers Safety Program to be held at Civic Center
The Richwood Civic Center will sponsor an AARP "Drivers Safety Program."
It is the nation's first and largest classroom refresher for motorists
age 50 and older. Sign-up deadline is Monday, Oct. 15.

 Local fire department receives grant for new fire truck
Try, try again. That's exactly what the Northern Union County Fire and
EMS Department did . . . for several years. Their perseverance and
patience finally paid off.

School district announces new payment plans
North Union School District Treasurer and CFO, Scott Maruniak, has
announced an additional plan for parents who wish to pay school fees and
lunches via the internet.

Two options for absentee voting
Registered voters in Union County now have two options when voting
absentee. Voters may cast their ballots at the Union County Board of
Elections office, 940 London Ave., Suite 1000, Marysville or by mail.

Turning point to host Picnic on the Porch

 In recognition of National Domestic Violence Aware-ness Month, Turning
Point will be holding their fourth annual Picnic on the Porch on Friday,
Oct. 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  This year's event is being sponsored by
Panera Bread. The restaurant has chosen Turning Point as the agency they
wish to support throughout the year.
