Council decides to electrify town clock

Village
Administrator Lin Hensley provided council with information
regarding the
town clock when they met in regular session Monday, April
28. Council member
Wade McCalf was absent.
There's a new "bank" in Richwood
Four members
of the Richwood First United Methodist Church have become
volunteer
counselors for the Ohio Benefit Bank (OBB). This is not your
typical bank,
where you can deposit money or start a savings account.
OBB is a
public-private partnership that provides community outreach and
access to low
and moderate income Ohioans. Pastor Joe Rhea, Chanin Lowe,
JoAnn Stillings
and Steve Brown are currently the only trained
counselors, in Union County,
who are able to help deserving residents
get money from government programs
and other public services.
Letter carriers plan annual food drive
The
National Association of Letter Carriers will conduct their 16th
annual "Stamp
Out Hunger" food drive on Saturday, May 10.
Egg farm opponents seek
support of city
The Hi-Q egg farms controversy came to Marysville
Thursday night as
opponents brought the issue before city
council.
Richwood Clean-up Day update
Mayor Bill Nibert has
announced an update regarding the Saturday, May 17
Clean-up Day. Collection
site will be held at 33 Cherry St. at the
Salvage One business location,
which is located west of Grove St.
Residents may drop items between the hours
of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Critical Incident Training to be held at North Union High School
North Union
High School will be the site of a Critical Incident Training
exercise, to be
conducted Wednesday, April 30. This is the first time
this type of exercise,
of this size and complexity, has been attempted
in the State of
Ohio.
Regency Construction updates school board on building
projects

in regular session on
Monday, April 21.
Charges filed against
clerks selling liquor to underage customers
Northern Union County was the
target for officers from the Union County
Sheriff's Department (UCSO) and the
Ohio Investigative Unit as they
conducted a canvas of businesses in the area,
searching for those
willing to sell alcohol to underage
customers.
Saturday is make-up day for North Union schools
Parents
and students are reminded that Saturday, April 26 is the first
of three
scheduled make-up days for students in the North Union
School
District.
Union Recyclers to hold document and electronic
waste Destruction Day
Have an old computer or other electronic devices that
need to be
destroyed? Union Recyclers has planned a collection event to
accommodate
you. This event is open to everyone.

Waste Collection and Documentation Destruction
Day is planned for Saturday,
May 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Union
Recyclers, 15140 U.S. 36E, in
Marysville.
Richwood Clean-up Day set for Saturday, May
17
Residents are encouraged to take pride in their community by cleaning
up
and throwing out. The Village of Richwood's annual Clean-up Day will
be
held Saturday, May 17. Collection site is 111 N. Fulton St., near
Monroe
Field at Richwood Park. Hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Postal
rates to rise
The United States Postal Service (USPS) has announced that
postal rates
will go up, effective Monday, May 12. Rising fuel costs,
transportation,
utility and health care costs have mandated the
increase.
Senior Project Manager approaches council with various updates

Supreme Court announces cases to be
heard in Union County session

Four cases will be heard by the Supreme Court of Ohio in Union County
on
Wednesday, May 7, according to an announcement by Chief Justice
Thomas
J. Moyer. The Court's visit is part of the semiannual Off-Site
Court

Department of Transportation (ODOT) kicked off its
2008 Central Ohio
Construction Season, which includes 54 projects with a

by the state of $350 million.

Sales tax issues passes by three votes
Union County Board of Elections
officials have announced that after a
recount of all the ballots, held
Friday, April 4, the quarter-percent
sales tax issue for Union County passed
by three votes - 7,830 to 7,827.

Community Service hours surpass 4,800 mark
Judge
Richard E. Parrott, of the Union County Common Pleas Court, has
announced
that in the first three months of 2008, in excess of 4,800
hours of community
service have been provided through the Common Pleas
Community Service
Program.
Resident pleads guilty
According to a report received from the Union County
Prosecutor's
office, James Tylor McCarty, 22, of Richwood recently plead
guilty to
charges of Breaking and Entering and Receiving Stolen
Property.
Sales tax increase passes by only two votes
Union County Board of Elections
officials have counted all the ballots
and the verdict is in: The one-quarter
percent sales tax increase passed
7,828 to 7,826 - a margin of only two
votes. Unofficial count from the
Board of Elections, on election day, showed
the sales tax increase
passing by just 50 votes. However, there were 300
provisional ballots
yet to be counted. According to Election Board
officials, if the vote
ends in a tie, the issue would be considered a
defeat.
Hazardous Waste Collection Day Set
Union County Recyclers
is organizing a Household Hazardous Waste
Collection Day for all Union County
residents. Mark your calendar for
Saturday, April 19 to bring items for
recycling.
Timeline for egg farm construction hazy

be
months, even years before that happens.
