Council member Jim Thompson resigns
Tim Goodwin named Village's new Fiscal Officer

Mayor Bill Nibert appointed Tim Goodwin as the new Fiscal Officer for
the Village of Richwood, and accepted the resignation of council member
Jim Thompson, when council met in regular session on Monday, Nov. 24.
Thompson was absent from the meeting.

Holiday season gets underway
 The Christmas holiday season is officially underway in the Village of Richwood.

Three North Union FFA members earn the coveted American FFA Degree

The American FFA Degree is the highest degree of membership which a
member can attain, and only about one half of one percent of the
500,000+ national membership of the organization attains this high
honor. This final step in the FFA Degree system encourages students to
grow and achieve personally toward establishing themselves in an
agricultural career.

The Thanksgiving holiday should be a joyous time for all families in
America, but far too often the celebration turns to tragedy on the
nation's highways.

MKC Associates updates school board on building projects

Neil Kirkpatrick, from MKC Associates, provided board members with an
update on the renovations at the high school and the construction of the
new middle school, when the Board met in regular session, on Monday.

RABA names Hamilton Grand Marshal

Richwood Area Business Association (RABA) held its monthly meeting on
Monday, Nov. 10, with John Hoskins, Tim Suter, Pat Hamilton, Tai Wills,
Rita Monroe, Rita Headington, Jim and Norma Dew, Jackie Dietch, Rick
Smith and Gina Lewis and Dan Snodgrass, from Signet Sound, attending.

Free Community Dinner planned
A free Community Christmas Dinner has been set for Tuesday, Dec. 16, at
the North Union High School cafeteria.

Public invited to Festival of Thanks
Richwood Area Ministerial Association (RAMA), will be observing
Thanksgiving with a non-denominational, community  Thanksgiving service.

Notice
The Richwood Gazette will be closed, Thursday, Nov. 27, so the staff may
enjoy Thanksgiving with their families.
Business will resume, on Friday, Nov. 28, at 8 a.m.

Council discusses success of  haunted house while planning ahead for Christmas activities

North Union Junior Class Adviser Peg Curts approached council members
regarding the haunted house that was recently held at Richwood Park,
when they met in regular session, on Monday.

NU seniors work election polls
From elementary through high school, students learn about the many areas
of the United States government. By their senior year, students have
been taught about their responsibility to vote, when they become 18.
Recently, in Marcia Livingston's Life Management class, at North Union
High School, classmates got to see the voting process up close and
personal, when they became a part of "democracy in action."

Police Chief warns about Canadian scam
Richwood Police Chief Monte Asher warns residents about a recent phone
scam, which was reported by two elderly residents.

Local church staff assists Ohio Benefit Bank
Richwood First United Methodist Church members have expanded their
goodwill to the community once again.

Flu Clinic set for Friday, Nov. 14
Union County  Health Department will offer Flu shots, FluMist and
Pneumonia vaccines to Union County residents, and non-residents, ages
nine and older, on Friday, Nov. 14. The event will be held at the
Northern Union County Fire Station, 602 N. Franklin St., from 9 to 11 a.m.

Richwood Ministerial Association to give turkeys for holiday
Richwood Ministerial Association will be giving turkeys to needy
families this Thanksgiving season.

 Chamber of Commerce to salute area leaders
The Union County Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Salute to
Leaders Banquet on Thursday, Nov. 13. This event recognizes members of
the community who, through their leadership, have enriched the lives of
others.

History made as first African-American elected President of the United States
Union County voters exercised their voting rights in record numbers at
the polls, on Tuesday, Nov. 4.  Union County Board of Elections reported
that 72.77 percent of registered voters expressed their opinions on
local, state and national issues, plus the many candidates who were
seeking office.

Event to be held at Union County Senior Services
Ohio Insurance Department to host free Medicare Check-up Day

Helping beneficiaries understand Medicare coverage and determine which
plan may best fit their needs will be the focus as the Ohio Department
of Insurance (ODI) hosts a free Medicare Check-up Day event, on
Wednesday, Nov. 12, from 8:30 to 10 a.m., at Union County Senior
Services, 18000 state Route 4, in Marysville.
