Council tables purchase of property

Park Committee Chair Scott Jerew informed council members of two
estimates he obtained for the home and three acres of land council is
considering to expand the park, when they met in regular session on
Monday, Sept 22. Council member Von Beal was absent.

Electronic waste, appliances and television collection day
Old computers and other electronic waste, televisions and appliances
will be collected for recycling on Saturday, Oct. 4. Collection site
will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Union Recyclers, 15140 U.S.
Rt. 36 E., in Marysville. This project will be conducted by the North
Central Ohio Solid Waste District's Madison/Union County Program and
Union Recyclers.

Fire Chief offers tips and rules for open burning
Northern Union County Fire Chief Randy Riffle asks residents to take
extra precautions during this dry, fall season.

Pedaling around the world
Sue (Prince) Bastian has been pedaling literally "around the world," and
that's not on an exercise bicycle.

in York Township met recently to discuss transportation issues.

Board updated on building projects

MKC Associate Neil Kirkpatrick provided North Union board members with
an update on renovations at the high school and the construction of the
new middle school when they met in regular session  Sept. 15. The
meeting was held at Tri-Rivers Career Center in Marion, where board
members toured the facility before the meeting.

Results from Park Day released
Park Day, which was held Sunday, Aug. 3, was very successful, according
to organizers. A profit of $4,563.31 will be used for additions to
Richwood Park.

United Way campaign kicks off amid record-level need

United Way (UW) kicks off its 50th annual fundraising campaign in Union
County in earnest this month, hoping area residents will respond
generously to rising social service needs amid difficult economic times.
The local organization is hoping to raise $840,000 for its support of
programs that impact more than 16,000 Union County residents each year.
United Way achieved 102 percent of its goal last year, raising more than
$812,000.

Council approached by community members regarding various issues

Council members were approached by two different members of the
community regarding various issues when they met in regular session on
Monday. Council member Peg Wiley was absent.

 R.A.B.A. shows customers their appreciation
Richwood Area Business Association wants to show their
appreciation to the public for shopping at home and supporting
local business when they host Customer Appreciation Day, on
Saturday, Sept. 13. The event will be held i n downtown Richwood,
from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Tailgate party set for Saturday
The much anticipated NUAC Ultimate Tailgate event will take place
this Saturday, Sept. 13.

played out in the Delaware County Court system. 

Covered Bridge Festivaloffers county-wide activities
A day full of activities, including tours,art, entertainment and plenty
of food awaits everyone attending the First Annual Union County
Covered Bridge Festival. Events will be heldfrom 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.,
in Marysville, Richwood, Milford Center, North Lewisburg, Plain City
and Unionville Center. Theme for the one-dayfestival is "Connecting
the Past to the Future."
