Village Council will buy Mills Chevrolet property
When Mills Chevrolet in Richwood, closed its doors in October, many 
residents of Richwood were disheartened.
Richwood Village Council members saw it as an opportunity.

Weather cooperates for Springenfest weekend
Help celebrate the Declaration of Independence in Prospect, on 
Saturday, July 4. The Prospect Lions Club, Battle Run Fire Department 
and Prospect Legion Post #368, are making final preparations for a 
spectacular day, full of family fun.

Suicide Support Group encourages public to attend
Survivors of Suicide Support Group, a member of the Here4Hope 
organization, meets the third Monday of every month. The meetings are 
open to the public, especially for anyone who has lost a loved one 
through suicide.

Route 4 detour begins soon
Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) officials will be replacing 
a culvert on Route 4, west of County Home Rd., near Marysville.

End of another era for North Union Local Schools

Those who attended Leesburg-Magnetic and the former Richwood High 
School (North Union Middle School), will see the last two buildings 
in the school district close and very soon be demolished.  With the 
dedication of the new middle school building, tentatively set for 
Saturday, Aug. 15, the Leesburg-Magnetic Elementary and the current 
middle school, will no longer be needed. State funds were allocated 
for the demolition of both schools, when taxpayers voted to build the 
North Union Elementary and the state built the middle school. Now the 
three levels of education are designed as a campus-style facility.

Union County awarded funds for food and shelter
Union County has been chosen to receive $12,065 to supplement 
emergency food and shelter programs in the county. Theses funds have 
been made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment 
Act of 2009 (ARRA).

Village Council has had enough of vandalism
Members of the Richwood Village Council have had enough with the 
vandalism in Richwood. So much, that they want to offer a reward for 
the latest destruction at The Richwood Park, in the beach area.

Former Richwood resident known internationally dies
Frederick P. Zuspan, M.D., a former Richwood resident, died Sunday, 
June 6, 2009. He was internationally known as a leader in the the 
field of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Springenfest organizers putting on final touches for two-day event

North Union Athletic Complex (NUAC) board members are making final 
preparations for the Friday and Saturday, June 19 and 20,  32nd 
annual fundraising event. Profits from the festival are used to 
provide athletic facilities and equipment, as well as upkeep for 
North Union athletes.

Village streets high priority at council meeting
Council members talked about nearly every street  in the village 
during their Monday night meeting.

Public library is a valuable part of the community
Many people think that the Richwood-North Union Public Library is 
just a place to gets books or movies, maybe look-up information for a 
school project or old newspaper articles or maybe reserve the meeting 
room for a gathering.

2009 North Union Valedictorian and Salutatorian named

North Union Local School District has named the 2009 students who 
will serve as the Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the 2008-’09 
school year.
  Emily  Lydic, daughter of John and Joyce Lydic, of Raymond, has 
earned the honor of Valedictorian and Raven Alford, daughter of 
Douglas and Crystal Alford, of Prospect, has achieved the status of 
Salutatorian.

Graduation for North Union Class of 2009 is set for June 5
orth Union students in the Class of 2009, will walk across the stage 
on Friday, June 5 to receive their diplomas.  The ceremony will begin 
at 7 p.m. in the high school gymnasium.

Springenfest is June 19 and 20
School is almost out, summer is on its way, so that means it is 
Springenfest time! The two-day annual event is set for Friday and 
Saturday, June 19 and 20 on downtown Richwood streets. This event, 
which began 32 years ago, has raised nearly $450,000 through the 
efforts of the North Union Athletic Complex (NUAC). With thousands of 
volunteer hours, these efforts have built, maintained and updated 
athletic facilities for North Union athletes.
