NU School to hold
annual food drive
Students in the North Union School District will hold
their annual
food drive the week of December 7 through the 11.
Non-perishable
items will be donated to the Richwood Emergency Assistance
Program
Food Pantry, 235 Grove St. in Richwood, to help those in the area
who
are less fortunate or finding that income is not covering their
expenses.
Academic progress explained to NU board
Charts and statistics can be boring
and lose a crowd instantly.
Based on this, North Union Curriculum Coordinator
Dave Baker decided
to honor the district’s academic progress using sports
terminology.
All three schools in the district received excellent
designations on
state report cards in 2009.

clinic added
Union County Health Department has expanded hours for the
Thursday,
Nov. 12 H1N1 clinic and has scheduled another H1N1 clinic for
Tuesday, Nov. 24.

holiday
The Richwood Area Ministerial Association will be helping families
who are struggling financially this year, by giving turkeys for their
Thanksgiving dinner.

Voters in Union County
expressed their opinions at the poles on
state and local issues and
electing township officials and school
board members
Tuesday.
Wildcats complete perfect season
The 2009 North Union
High School football season has truly been
historic.
With a pulsating
15-13 win at Buckeye Valley on Friday, the Wildcats
wrapped up the school’s
first undefeated season and their first MOAC
title in a decade. They also
earned the school’s first appearance in
the OHSAA
playoffs.
North Union places third in National Agronomy
contest
Winners of the National FFA Agronomy Career Development Event (CDE)
were announced recently at the annual awards banquet, held in
conjunction with the 82nd National FFA Convention in Indianapolis,
Ind.
Harold Brown, of Ohio, served as superintendent of the event.
Care
Train of Union County keeps rolling
The Care Train of Union County has
experienced a busy month, as
applications for assistance during the holiday
season continue to
arrive daily. Currently applications from 111 families
with 257
children 12 and under and 51 children between the ages of 12 and
17
have been reviewed. In addition, 72 senior members of the community
and 31 adults with developmental disabilities have also asked for
assistance during the holidays. The Care Train application can be
found
and downloaded on the website, www.caretrain.org The deadline
for
submitting an application is Friday, Nov. 20. Locally,
applications are
available to Parrott Implement, located on E.
Blagrove St.,
Richwood.
Teacher suspended for ‘professional misconduct’
North
Union Superintendent Rick Smith stated the school district has
suspended
teacher Amy White on Tuesday, Oct. 28 for “suspicion of
professional
misconduct.” She has been placed on home suspension with
pay and will be
given due process pending the completion of the
district’s
investigation.
