Local businessman shows support for marching band
Band booster, Chris
Loudermilk, approached Jack and Amy Kirby about
the possibility of using
one of his trucks to haul the North Union
Marching Band’s instruments and
equipment to the away football games.
School buses are usually very full
with the students and instruments.
The Kirbys not only offered their truck,
but had it painted in school
colors of orange, black and white. Loudermilk
and his son Ben,
pictured far left, are in charge of loading the truck and
delivering
it to the away contests. Pictured left to right, are Ben

senior band members, Heather Loudermilk, Shandra Rose, Kayle
Gorenflo, Robbie Flint, Michelle Shepherd, Aaron Smith, Zach Perkins,

Candidates challenge for Trustee and Fiscal Officer
positions
Two townships in northern Union County have residents seeking
trustee
and fiscal officer seats in Jackson and York Townships. Candidate
are: Mike Brake, Judy Christian, Ken Etherington, Chuck Ehret, Roger
Pitchford, Chad Oldham, Don Wasserbeck and Julia Smith.
Council hears
about water problems in the village
For years, engineer after engineer has
tried to find the source of
line leaks which allow peak flows of 2.2
million gallons of water to
surge through the Richwood sewer plant after
heavy rains.
Ohio State Bank to consider stock purchase
agreement
Shawn P. Keller, President and CEO of R Financial Services, Inc.
and
Michael J. Lamping, Chairman, President and CEO of Ohio State
Bancshares, Inc., announced that their respective companies have
signed
a stock purchase agreement on October, 20, 2009. The agreement
provides a
$6 million capital investment from R. Financial Services,
Inc. in exchange
for a controlling ownership interest in Ohio State
Bancshares, Inc. The
capital will be used to restore The Ohio State
Bank’s regulatory capital
ratios to “well capitalized” and satisfy
the most important step for the
bank to be in compliance with the
Cease and Desist order issued by the FDIC
and State of Ohio Division
of Financial Institutions in August of
2009.
Gazette to publish a day late
The Richwood Gazette will
publish a day late next week, so we can
report the election results to our
readers. The paper will be
available on newstands Thursday, Nov. 5 and
those who receive the
paper by mail, should expect their delivery to also
be a day late. We
will resume our normal Wednesday publication Nov.
11.

Second H1N1 shot clinic schedued
The
Union County Health Department has scheduled a second H1N1
vaccination
clinic for Friday, Oct. 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and
4 to 6 p.m. at the
Union County Health Department, 940 London Ave.,
Marysville.
Money issues top council meeting
20 = the percentage raise proposed for
Richwood Village Council.
2 = The number of council members voting for the
issue.
2 = The number of council members voting against the issue.
2 = The
number of council member absent from the meeting.
While Richwood Village
Council’s regular meeting Monday night saw a
theme of the number two while
deciding on a pay ordinance, it was
ultimately one person’s opinion that
settled the deadlock.

achieves Eagle Scout award
Richwood resident, Clayton D. Delp, recently
earned the Eagle Scout
Award, the highest award in scouting.
Update
for log cabin project to be relocated to Richwood Fairgrounds
Antique
chairman, Randy Sullivan and the antique committee, along
with the Richwood
Fair-board, is pleased to announce that all of the
log cabins located in
Marysville have been disassembled and are now
located in Richwood. The logs
will be stored until they are used to
rebuild the log structures. “We are
pleased to get this far along
with the project before bad weather,” said
Sullivan.
Public to receive survey to help Richwood NU Public
Library
Several residents of the Richwood area will be receiving a survey in
the mail from the Richwood-North Union Public Library.

Half boy, half man
The average age of the military man is 19
years. He is a short
haired, tight-muscled kid who, under normal
circumstances is
considered by society as half man, half boy. Not yet dry
behind the
ears, not old enough to buy a beer, but old enough to die for
his
country. He never really cared much for work and he would rather wax
his own car than wash his father's, but he has never collected
unemployment either.
Both sides of Issue 2 to be debated
On
Tuesday, Oct. 13, the Union County Young Republicans will be
hosting an
informational meeting regarding State Issue 2 which
proposes to amend the
Ohio Constitution by creating a Ohio Livestock
Care Standards Board. The
Board will be responsible for establishing
standards governing the care and
well-being of livestock and poultry
in the state of Ohio.
Richwood
community flu clinic will be held at the fire station
The Union County Health
Department invites all Richwood area
residents to stay healthy this winter
by getting a flu shot at the
community flu shot clinic Friday, Oct. 16 from
9 to 11 a.m. at the
Northern Union County Fire Department, 602 N. Franklin
St.
Union County Sheriff’s office hosts medication disposal day
On
Thursday, Oct. 15, the Union County Sheriff’s office will be
hosting a
medication disposal day at the Union County Fairgrounds,
located at 845 N.
Main St., Marysville. The event will last from 2 to
6 p.m.

North Union students will take to the streets on
Wednesday, Oct. 7
for their annual Homecoming Snake Dance
celebration.
