Concern over the loss of an estimated $20 million has spurred several Union County agency heads to reach out to residents through town
hall meetings scheduled for May 11, 17 and 18.
Carey inducted into Ohio Agricultural Hall of Fame
A local family is celebrating the induction of their father into the Ohio Agricultural Hall of Fame.
However, the inductee, Edwin J. Carey, is not here to celebrate with
them. Edwin passed away in 1988 after a lifetime of service to the agricultural community.
School districts working through financial woes
Many school districts in Ohio have been waiting for the state budget
to be announced regarding school financing. It’s evident that with a new governor, that cuts will be made, but to what extent, no one really knows.
Police Chief looks to reduce departments fuel costs
The Richwood Police Department is focusing on new ways to cut down on the cost of fuel. To reduce the amount of fuel the department is using, each officer will be required to work one hour per shift on foot.
North Union celebrates “The Fine Arts”
North Union Schools will host the annual Fine Arts Festival this Saturday at all three schools. Whether its music, painting or woodworking, students enjoy showcasing their art talents. All events are free, so spend the day recognizing the talents of the district’s students.
North Union students compete in National Robotics Challenge
Nearly 1,000 students from 65 schools and 10 states recently competed in the National Robotics Challenge, a three-day event which features 13 categories. North Union Middle School students competed and came home with some special hardware. The competition is hosted at the Marion County Fairgrounds Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Marion and continues to grow each year, propelled by interest from elementary to college students and supported by sponsors, such as Honda.
United Way gears up for annual Community Care Day, May 17
The 15th Annual Community Care Day is just around the corner.
The signature volunteer event for the United Way of Union County will be held on Tuesday, May 17.
Honda hosts motorcycle women’s awareness event
May is Motorcycle Awareness Month and Women Riders Month. Honda Marysville MotorSports is teaming up with the Columbus Chrome Divas on Saturday, May 7, to bring a lively day of fun and learning to women across central Ohio. Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Day is open to the public and will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the MotorSports store,
located at 630 Colemans Crossing Boulevard, Marysville.
Union County considers effect of state budget on local government
The Union County Commissioners are hosting a press conference on behalf of the Union County entities most affected by the loss of TPP (Tangible Personal Property) tax replacement revenue. Representatives from multiple agencies will be available for a question and answer period.
