Council discusses rules of camping at park

Council members were concerned about possible homeless residents camping at Richwood Park, when they met at Monday’s meeting.

Family Gospelfest has returned

The Family Gospelfest at The New Center has returned! Due to renovations at the 235 Grove Street facility, it was decided not to have the event last year.  So, with a year to  plan, this event is promised to be a hit!

Former fire chief indicted

A former Union County Fire Chief and the current Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Fire Officer of the Year has been indicted.
Todd R. German, 50, of 270 Pearl St., Richwood, has been indicted on 20 counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material.

A new camera system in the Union County engineer’s office could help save the village of Richwood thousands of dollars.
Village Administrator Lin Hensley and county engineer Jeff Stauch have discussed using the new camera system for a sewer televising project in Richwood to see what kinds of repairs need to be done.

Bleed for the Band blood drive

The American Red Cross has begun a new program called “Bleed for the Band.” The idea is to get high school students involved in donating blood.

The Union County Sheriff’s office reports that on Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at approximately 9:02 pm, they received a report of an armed robbery that occurred at Mosier’s IGA, located at 21701 St. Rt. 347 in Raymond.

Hospital honored by Consumer Reports

Memorial Hospital of Union County has been ranked highly in the August issue of Consumer Reports. The hospital received a ranking of 1 in the state of Ohio and 10 out of all hospitals that were evaluated nationwide for safety.

Police add auxilary officer
The Richwood Police Department was short-staffed by three auxiliary officers, so recently they signed on Officer Mike Barnett, of Richwood.

Are you ready for the Union County Fair?

Well, it is July, so that means the Union County Fair will be making final preparations for a week of fun. The fair runs from Sunday through Saturday, July 22 to 28. The fairgrounds are located between Routes 4 and 31, near Marysville.

Calling all tractor pull fans

The second annual DeLynn Kale Memorial Tractor Pull will return to The Richwood Fairgrounds on Saturday, July 7 and the public and tractor pull fans are invited to  see an exciting event.

County begins chip seal projects

Union County Engineer crews will begin their annual chip seal program on Monday, July 9. The work is expected to last three to four weeks. Road resurfacing will take place between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Start planning for community yard sales

It’s the first week of July so many people know that before long, the Richwood Area Community Yard Sales will take place. Clean your closets, basement and garages, and sell your treasurers on Friday and Saturday, July 27 and 28. The event is sponsored by the Richwood Area Business Association (RABA).
