RABA announces holiday schedule

The Richwood Area Business Association (RABA) is preparing for the Christmas holiday season and wants the public to participate. 

Grose rides away with more awards

Kelsey Grose will tell you she has attended the American Quarter Horse Congress since she was born. Her grandparents, Don and Beverly Grose, had horses, so she grew to love showing and caring for horses. Beverly Grose was instrumental in starting the Ohio Quarter Horse Association (OQHA), which is housed in Richwood.

Turning Point, a program for victims of domestic violence, is seeking support for its annual Adopt-a-Family Christmas program. Since 1986, with the help of generous community support, Turning Point has provided holiday assistance for families who have fled abusive situations.

The Richwood Area Ministerial Association will again offer turkeys for families who are struggling financially to put a meal on the table for Thanksgiving.

Mayor Bill Nibert presided over his last regular village council meeting as mayor Monday evening. For nearly 24 years, he has served as clerk/treasurer and mayor of Richwood and his years of service to the village was recognized.

Flu Shot Clinic scheduled Thursday

The Union County Health Department is offering flu vaccinations to the Richwood community Thursday, Nov. 13, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Northern Union County Fire Department, 602 N. Franklin St. Flu vaccination is available on a walk-in basis with no appointment needed for ages six months and older.

Public invited to Festival of Thanks
The public is encouraged to attend the annual Festival of Thanks, set for Sunday, Nov. 23. The event will be held this year at the Community United Calvary Church, located at 273 Race Street, Richwood.

Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule
The Richwood Gazette office will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27 so staff can enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday. The office will be open regular hours on Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Due to printing schedules and the office being closed for Thanksgiving, Nov. 27, the Richwood Gazette next week will not be delivered to subscribers or news stands until Friday, Nov. 28.

Richwood Village Council will be accepting applications for a new council member, which was announced during Monday night’s council meeting.

Police to host volleyball benefit

The Richwood Police Association will host their second annual Holiday Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 13. The event will be held at the North Union High School, located at 401 N. Franklin Street in Richwood. The fun begins at 3 p.m.

Free training for new home builders

Beginning in 2015, new homes in Union County will be built with the goal of keeping harmful radon gas out. To help contractors and potential new home builders understand the health risks associated with radon and the new radon resistant building regulations, the Union County Building Department and the Union County Health Department are holding a free community training on Thursday, Dec. 4.

Holidays kick off with pie giveaway

The Richwood Area Business Association (RABA) is getting the community into the holiday spirit by giving away home baked pies made from Carlyle’s Restaurant.

Foos receives American FFA degree
