Union High School students recently heard a very hard story about distracted driving from Dom Tiberi, a sportscaster for WBNS 10 TV. Tiberi’s daughter Maria, lost her life Sept. 17, 2013, while driving, just three miles from her parents’ home.

Robotics team qualifies for state
The
North Union Middle School robotics teams started out their competition season recently with Ohio’s first VEX Robotics “Skyrise” competition of the year at Tri-Rivers’ RAMTEC Center. There were 25 teams competing from area schools from Kenton, Highland, Cardington, River Valley, Ben Logan, along with eight teams from North Union Middle School (NUMS).
Richwood council discusses progress of water line project

Council
heard from Village Administrator Monte Asher that the looping of the water line project is coming along. Council gave the go-ahead to include
537 additional feet of looping from Maple Street to the village limits near Hoskins Road. With the approved additional work, the deadline was extended to Dec. 15, but Asher said that he believes the company is ahead of schedule.
Hall of Pride winners recognized

year at the end of basketball season, the North Union High School recognizes North Union graduates who have been selected for the Hall of Pride honor. Two of the three honorees were unable to attend that ceremony, so during Friday night’s football game, Jeremiah Workman and Dawn (Ridgeway) Draper received their recognition.
Ohio Department of Health announces new sewage rules

The
Ohio Department of Health has updated private sewage treatment system (STS) rules to ensure better public health in rural and suburban areas not served by public sewers. Those new rules take effect January 1, 2015.
Congressman Jordan to visit Richwood
U.S.
Congressman Jim Jordan will visit Richwood on Thursday. Village Administrator Monte Asher welcomes the public to come to the village administration building at 2 p.m. to talk with Jordan and ask him questions. While in the village, he will also tour the facility.
