Drug take-back service was successful

Union
County Sheriff Jamie Patton states the recent drug take-back event was a
success. Residents turned out to dispose of expired, unwanted and unused prescription medications, during the cold, chilly weather conditions. Three locations were accepting medications that day; The Sheriff’s Office in Marysville, Pleasant Valley Fire Department in Plain
City and the Richwood Police Department.

NU students compete in VEX Worlds Championship
More
than 1,100 robotics teams from 37 nations gathered at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky, for the 2016 VEX World Championship, April 22-24. Competition was held during three days of intense back-to-back matches for the chance to become World Champions. In doing so, these 16,000 students broke the previously held GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the largest robotics competition! VEX Worlds, presented by the Robotics Education and Competition (REC) Foundation and
the Northrop Grumman Foundation, is the culminating event of the season
and was one incredible celebration of robotics engineering, featuring the world’s largest and fastest growing international robotics programs–the VEX IQ Challenge, the VEX Robotics Competition and VEX U. North Union represented four of the teams that competed in three different divisions at the global event.

Grand jury hands down indictments

Union County Grand Jury has indicted Kayla Marie Ford, 25, of 258 Race Street, Richwood and Jeffery Brandon Tipton, 26 of 264 N. Algonquin Ave., Columbus. Both are charged with one count each of burglary, theft and receiving stolen property.

North Union to graduate Class of 2016 Friday evening

evening, the North Union High School gymnasium will be filled with anxious graduating students, parents, grandparents, families and friends. The Class of 2016 will enter into the alumni association. Ceremonies begin at 7 p.m. with the marching in of the class to the sounds of the North Union High School band.

Walking path to be blacktopped this week

Village
council heard during Monday night’s meeting that the new walking path at Richwood Park is to be blacktopped this week. Council members raised questions regarding how all-terrain vehicles will be kept off the path once it is opened.
Mayor Scott Jerew suggested that signs could be installed and ordinances could be created to warn those who may be tempted. Members of the path committee will address these concerns in future meetings
