Sheets receives Ohio School Board Association award

The Ohio School Board Association (OSBA) recently held their Central Regional Fall Conference in Columbus, Wednesday, Sept. 28, to honor several individuals who are supportive of public education. The Central Region covers schools in 14 surrounding counties. Recognition was given to 2016 Outstanding Teachers of the Central Region, Friends of Public Education, exemplary school employees, outstanding board members and recognition of board members celebrating 30, 35 and 40 years of service.

Josie Rae Hoffman is a seven-year old and a first grade student at North Union Elementary School. She has been dealing with several health problems, such as a heart defect, low bone density, and breathing problems, among a host of other health issues. In upcoming months, she will also have several back surgeries, if she is able.

Police Chief Monte Asher is appreciative of community support. So much, that community tips were responsible for helping take some drugs off the streets of Richwood.

Changes made at health department

The Union County Health Department (UCHD) has changed its Adult Health Services Clinic. The clinic has new times and is now by appointment only. These changes have been made in an effort to better serve clients.

It’s Toys for Tots time
Before you know it, Christmas will soon be here. So we are preparing to help ensure that children in the North Union School District will have gifts for the holidays.

Last pick-up date announced
Village employees are preparing equipment for winter weather, so they are asking residents to pile any brush or limbs along the curbs for pick-up. The last available date they will pick-up the brush will be Monday, Oct. 17.

Richwood Gazette office to relocate

The Richwood Gazette office will be relocating to 207 N. Main Street in Marysville as of Monday, Oct. 24, 2016. The move will join the staff at the Gazette with that of The Marysville Journal-Tribune. Both papers are owned by Marysville Newspapers, Inc.

Habitat for Humanity to build home

Todd C. Miller, executive director for Habitat for Humanity of Delaware and Union Counties, has announced that the organization has purchased a lot in Richwood and they are anxious to get the word out to those who are dreaming of owning their own affordable home.

Fire burns up R.V. in Northern Union County

Firefighters from multiple agencies worked together on Monday, Oct. 10, to put out a recreational vehicle that caught fire inside a pole barn in Richwood.

The North Union Board of Education took time to recognize two individuals during their regular meeting Monday evening.

Learn about college financial planning
A financial aid representative from The Ohio State University will be speaking on college financial planning, including an overview of all potential sources of financial aid available statewide and nationally for students who will be attending any two or four-year college or university. The event will be held at North Union High School, 401 N. Franklin Street in Richwood, on Monday, Nov. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Ghost stories told in the park
Calling all ghosts and goblins in Richwood!
Children are invited to come in costume (or not), to the Richwood Park at shelter house #2 (with the fire place in it) on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 6 p.m., to hear several ghost stories, getting you ready for the annual Trick or Treat event Monday, Oct. 31.
