Public invited to open school meetings

North Union Superintendent Rich Baird and staff are inviting the public to attend several “State of North Union” events throughout the school year.

County takes part in card skimmer sweep
Auditors from around Ohio, including Union County, worked hard to keep consumers safe this Labor Day weekend.

Customer Appreciation Day is coming

Local businesses in Richwood want to thank customers for their continued support of shopping locally. To show their appreciation, several businesses will be offering specials during the annual Customer Appreciation Day, Saturday, Sept. 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Are you registered to vote?

Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted has announced his office will begin contacting more than 1.6 million Ohioans who are eligible to vote, but not yet registered, and to encourage them to become active and engaged voters.

Plan to attend LaRue’s River Race and Ribs event

The LaRue Community Alliance is making the final touches to their second annual “River Race and Ribs” event on Saturday, Sept. 24. Profits from the day’s events will continue the repair and cleaning of storm drainage tiles in the village. Other projects when funds are available, include providing green space in the downtown area, possibly a community center, and providing a health clinic for area residents.

Celebrate Festival of Bands

The North Union Band Boosters are inviting the public to enjoy an evening of music and fun at their 9th Annual Festival of Bands show Saturday, Sept. 24. The event will be held at the North Union High School (401 N. Franklin Street, Richwood) football field with the first band to take the field at 6 p.m.

Bloodmobile is coming to Richwood

The need for blood never takes a vacation and now that summertime trips are winding down, the need is still important. So mark your calendar for Monday, Sept. 26, and give the gift of life at the Richwood First United Methodist Church, 18 S. Fulton Street in Richwood. Donations are being taken from 1 to 7 p.m.

It’s time for the Heifer Festival

The 12th Annual Heifer Festival will be held at the North Union Elementary School in Richwood from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Union County Auditor Andrea Weaver has announced that property value estimates are now available online, and they are on the rise countywide.

Village employees will be flushing the fire hydrants on Thursday, Sept. 15, beginning at 8 p.m.

Inspectors check for credit card skimmers

Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith announced that inspectors removed five illegal credit card skimming devices from Ohio gas pumps as part of the “Skimmer Sweep” hosted over Labor Day Weekend by Keith, Andrea Weaver-Union County Auditor, and more than 60 other Ohio county auditors.

Have you ever experienced what farming was like many years ago? The Calvin Family and Delaware County Antique Farm Machinery Association would like to invite the public to a two-day harvest festival. The event takes place on the Walter and Agnes Calvin Farm, 7585 Taway Road, near Radnor. Taway Road runs between Routes 257 and 4.
