Local club seeks to promote use of amateur radio

The Union County Amateur Radio Club (UCARC) helps residents tune in to learning about amateur radio and educate them about communication in disaster situations.

RABA reviews community events

The June 13 Richwood Area Business Association (RABA) meeting was opened by Cory Hixson, RABA president, at noon, at the Richwood North Union Library. Lyndsey Davenport of Big Brothers/Big Sisters hosted the meeting.

United Way of Union County will be concluding their annual School Supply Drive on Monday, July 31. This is a community effort to help those families who may find it difficult to purchase all the school supplies needed this fall.

The North Union Board of Education heard a presentation by Union County Sheriff Jamie Patton and North Union School Superintendent Rich Baird regarding the need for a school resource officer in the school district.

County engineer announces roadwork

Union County Engineer crews have begun their annual chip seal program and the work is expected to last four to five weeks.  Road resurfacing will take place between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday. 

ODA to collect farm pesticides in Delaware County
The Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) will be sponsoring a collection for farmers wishing to dispose of unwanted pesticides. The event will be held on Thursday, Aug. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Delaware County Fairgrounds (entrance off U.S. 23), 236 Pennsylvania Ave., Delaware.

2019 property revaluations are in process

While the Union County Board of Revisions (BOR) works to finish the 2016 update, the county auditor’s office is already starting the 2019 revaluation.
