Intervention specialists retire at NUHS

If you have been at North Union High School during the past ten years, you
have met “Nestor.” His handler, Monika Shaffer and Nestor both retired
after this school year and were recognized at last week’s special school
board meeting. Monika retired with 15 years of service and Nestor retired
with ten years.
School board sells land to village

was announced at Wednesday’s special school board meeting Wednesday.

Summer reading program begins next week

The Richwood-North Union Public Library is gearing up for Summer Reading
Club! The theme this summer is “Build A Better World.” Adults,
teens, and children can take part in a summer of reading, prizes, and fun
programs. Summer Reading Club begins Saturday, June 10, with a big
Kick-Off Party! Stop in the library between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to get signed
up, enjoy snacks and activities, and receive free giveaways.
E. Ottawa Street project ahead of schedule

The Richwood Village Council is pleased with the progress of the E. Ottawa
Street project. Weather has been a positive factor in getting the
project done ahead of the Oct. 1 deadline.
Council votes to purchase properties

When village council met Monday evening, Mayor Scott Jerew was absent from
the meeting, but council approved a motion for Resolution 06012017,
which authorizes Mayor Jerew to work on securing contracts on three
parcels of property within the village.

Grove receives Eagle Scout award
Joshua M. Grove, son of Darrell and Cindy Grove of Richwood, has earned
the highest rank of Eagle Scout. He was a member of Cub Scout Pack
109 for five years and then advanced to the Boy Scout Troop 440 for seven
years. He held positions of assistant Senior Patrol Leader and Senior
Patrol Leader and Scribe, during his scouting years. He received the Boy
Scout of the Year award by the Richwood VFW Post 870 in 2016. His
Eagle Scout project involved the financing and management of the building
of picnic tables for the Calvary Baptist Church in Marysville, where
he attends regularly and operates the sound system each Sunday.
Deputies searching for woman who
allegedly killed kitten during domestic dispute

Union County Sheriff’s Office deputies are looking for a woman after she
allegedly assaulted her daughter and killed her pet kitten during an
argument this week.
Resident shares concerns about school
district

Matt Keever, a Richwood area resident approached the North Union Board of
Education about the negative culture of the school district. He also
is concerned about the number of teaching staff who have left the
district.
New state budget may not favor county

concerned about a lost tax that could cost the county nearly half
a million dollars.

Fair board announces headlining

The Big Fire will headline the 2017 Richwood Independent Fair. The
concert will be held Saturday, Sept. 2. Gates to the concert open at 6

Veterans Memorial celebrates 10th anniversary

On July 4, 2007, a group of dedicated citizens who spent years planning,
organizing and raising money, realized a dream come true when the
North Union Veterans Memorial was unveiled.
Celebrate the Fourth of July in Prospect

Independence, dedicated 241 years ago on July 4, 1776.
The Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American colonies
regarded themselves as a new nation, the United States of

Council continues discussing blighted

Office closed July 1-4
Because of Independence Day Tuesday, July 4, the Richwood Gazette office
will be closed Saturday, July 1 - Tuesday, July 4. The business
will resume normal office hours and printing schedule on Wednesday, July
5.
