NU Robotics compete at VEX World
Championship

The 2017 VEX Robotics World Championship hosted 1,400 teams from over 30
nations worldwide. The week long competition is a celebration of STEM
education, the year-long work of each student-led robotics team, and
diversity in the high-tech field of competitive robotics.
Community loses a friend and a businessman

The Richwood and Marysville communities lost a businessman and a true
community friend when Donald Gwynn Parrott died unexpectedly on
Friday, April 28.
School to shorten hours Thursday
Rich Baird, North Union School Superintendent, is adjusting the hours of
North Union High School for Thursday, May 4.
Church celebrates 200th anniversary
The Prospect United Methodist Church will be celebrating their 200th
anniversary on Sunday, May 21 during their 10 a.m. service.
Church members are inviting past and present worshippers to come and
help them celebrate and to enjoy a meal following the
memorable service.
Alumni association announces banquet

Library showcases art display

The Art Department of North Union High School, unveiled their annual Art
Show last week at the Richwood-North Union Public Library. The public
is invited to visit the library and peruse the many types of art on
display throughout the building.
Project DAWN – helps fight the opioid problem

Having quick access to a lifesaving medication is a key tool health
officials are encouraging in the fight to prevent opioid overdose deaths.
To improve access, the state of Ohio is promoting Project DAWN (Deaths
Avoided with Naloxone) across the state.
Quarter Horse to move
Organization announces move from Richwood

On Thursday, the Ohio Quarter Horse Association (OQHA), host of the All
American Quarter Horse Congress, announced it will relocate its
headquarters from Richwood to Columbus.
Council learns of new business coming to
Richwood

Mayor Scott Jerew told Richwood village council members at Monday night's
meeting, that a new business, TCI Alabama, LLC, was to close on purchasing
the former MAI building in the Richwood Industrial Park Monday.
RAMTEC Vex Robotics Camps set for June 5-7 at
Tri-Rivers

The 2017 Summer Vex Robotics Camps - an advanced one for 8-12th grade
students and a beginners one for 6-12th grade students, will be held for
June 5 - 7. Both camps will be held at Tri-Rivers RAMTEC on the Career
Center Campus, 2222 Marion-Mt. Gilead Road, Marion.
Help “Stamp Out Hunger” May 13

Saturday, May 13, marks the 25th anniversary of America’s largest-single
day of giving - the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out
Hunger Food Drive in partnership with the U.S. Postal Service, National
Rural Letter Carriers’ Association, Valpak, United Way, AFL-CIO, United
Food and Commercial Workers International Union, AARP Foundation, Capital
Area Food Bank and other partners.
Come join the “State of North Union”

The North Union School District will hold a free community gathering
updating parents and residents about the state of the district. The event
will be held Monday, May 22 at the Richwood Bank, 28 N. Franklin Street in
the Richwood Coffee Lobby at 6 p.m.
Free produce for those who qualify
Produce markets will be giving away fresh food to low-income people in
Union County. The products are primarily produce, but may also include
bread and dairy products.
NU FFA team captures State Title
The North Union FFA captured the 2017 Ohio FFA Agronomy title. The
Agronomy Career Development Event (CDE) is based on member’s
knowledge of agronomic principles and practices. They must be able to
demonstrate their ability to identify agronomic crops, weeds, seeds,
insects, diseases, plant nutrient deficiencies, grain grading, crop inputs
and equipment, and so much more.
Board hears about elementary events

the board members at Monday night's regular meeting.
Seniors invited to 2017 farmer’s market
The Union County Senior Services program is partnering with the Central
Ohio Area Agency on Aging (COAAA) and Life Care Alliance
to administer the Farmer’s Market Program.

Bloodmobile comes to Richwood

Summer is supposed to be a fun time for families and school is out for
children. Many times, vacations are planned, which means more people
will be travelling on the roadways, also a time for many accidents to
happen.
Graduates prepare for final high school walk

One hundred the nineteen North Union High School seniors will walk across
the stage for the last time Friday, May 26. The graduation event will
take place at North Union High School 401 N. Franklin Street in Richwood
at 7 p.m. The school superintendent, high school principals, board of
education and teaching staff will all wish the seniors their best in their
future. Some may be headed to college to advance their education
towards a career, some will go directly into the workforce, and some may
join our military forces.
North Union holds graduation ceremonies

There will be 119 graduating seniors walking across the stage this Friday
evening at 7 p.m. at North Union High School. They will carry
13 years of educational memories with them when they receive their
diplomas.

Exchange students learn American culture

Imagine you are a teenager, born and raised in Taiwan or Italy, and you
will be living in the United States during your junior year in
high school. You are going to a foreign country, meeting and living
with strangers and learning the English language. Sounds a
little frightening, doesn’t it.
Learn about Narcan, a lifesaving overdose
drug

The Union County Health Department recently taught residents about saving
the lives of those who are overdosing on opioids, such as heroin.
Trustees to hold clean-up day
Residents in Washington Township are reminded of a clean-up day set for
Saturday, June 10. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at
the township building on Route 31 in Byhalia.
Come join the community lunch program
The free Richwood community summer lunch program will begin Thursday, June
8, at the Richwood Park. Come to shelter house #2 to get a healthy
free meal with drinks and dessert. Volunteers will begin serving the free
lunches at 11:30 a.m.
