Heritage Co-op merges with Agland
A merger was official Friday, Sept. 1, between Agland Co-op and Heritage Cooperative. Stockholders approved the merger agreement last February and the organizations have been working to unify policies, procedures, systems and the staff. The focus throughout the process has been to ensure a smooth transition for the customers, members and employees.

Customers honored during customer appreciation event

Once a year, the Richwood Area Business Association sponsors an event to show their appreciation for customer support during the year. That event is the Customer Appreciation Day, set for Saturday, Sept. 16, in downtown Richwood. Businesses and vendors will be open for business from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Library announces fall programs

As summer is winding down, the Richwood-North Union Public Library is announcing their fall programs for the public. Listed below are events for children, teens and adults. So get ready to mark your calendar for many exciting events.

Hansley to serve as interim administrator

The commissioners have named retired Delaware County administrator Timothy Hansley as the interim Union County Administrator.

Donations needed for hurricane survivors

Americans for Americans is packing trailers with relief items for people affected by Hurricane Irma.
Donations will be accepted at the Union County Fairgrounds at the west gate off of Route 31. Drive up and drop off your donations where volunteers will be available to unload vehicles daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Heifer Festival set

The 13th Annual Heifer Festival will be coming to Richwood. The festival is sponsored by the North Union United Methodist Cooperative and will be held at the North Union Elementary School, 420 Grove Street on Saturday, Sept. 30. 

Village administrator discusses wood chipping

Village Administrator Monte Asher told council that village crews have guidelines regarding the chipping of brush within the village.

Bloodmobile comes to Richwood Sept. 25

The need for blood donors never takes a vacation. There is a person who needs blood every second of the day, so mark your calendar for Monday, Sept. 25 and be a blood donor.

Manufacturing Day at Tri-Rivers RAMTEC
National Manufacturing Day is Friday, Oct. 6. Locally, Tri-Rivers Career
Center and its workforce training center RAMTEC (Robotics & Advanced Manufacturing Technology Education Collaborative) are designated hosts
for this event and will open their center at 2222 Marion- Mt. Gilead Rd, Marion, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with activities, demonstrations, contests and displays focusing on the celebration of industry and manufacturing.

State releases school district report cards

The Ohio Department of Education has released its report cards for local school districts. “It is kind of all over the map,” Fairbanks Superintendent Bob Humble said. He was speaking specifically for his district, but it was a sentiment echoed across the county and the state.

NUPride award winners announced during school board meeting

School Superintendent Rich Baird revealed the newest NUPride Award Winners during the regular monthly school board meeting Monday night.

UCHD begins process of reviewing fee schedule

At the Union County Health Department (UCHD) meeting Wednesday, the first reading of the proposed 2018 Environmental Health Fee Resolution fee was waived.

NUniversity announces next month’s events

Bloodmobile honors student
The North Union High School Student Council is hosting a blood drive at North Union High School, 401 N. Franklin Street, on Wednesday, Oct. 11. The drive will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. and the public is invited to participate. The drive will take place in the school cafeteria.

Council wonders about holdup on permit

Zoning Inspector Marion Bump was questioned by village council members during Monday night’s meeting regarding the delay of a new business obtaining their occupancy permit at the industrial park.

Flu shot clinics scheduled for northern Union County
The Union County Heathly Department is preparing for flu season and already has some public flu shot offering events planned. Their will be two opportunities for flu vaccinations in Richwood.
