Man indicted for posing as brother

A local man could be facing years in prison after he successfully convinced law enforcement officers and court officials that he was his brother.
A Union County Grand Jury has indicted Ryan Curtis Miller, 31, of Richwood. Miller is charged with two counts of identity fraud and one count of tampering with records. According to court documents, in January, the Ohio State Highway Patrol cited Miller for a traffic violation. Miller gave the trooper documents belonging to his brother as identification. Days later, he went to court and portrayed himself as the brother, even signing his brother’s name to court documents.

The Richwood community has been blessed with helping those in the North Union Local School District when paychecks don’t seem to stretch far enough.
The Richwood United Methodist Church, located at 18 S. Fulton Street in Richwood, is the home of the Personal Needs Pantry (PNP) and the Free Shop.

Local projects benefit from state budget

Gov. John Kasich recently approved legislation that will provide more than $1.65 million in funding for Union County projects.
Last week, Kasich signed the state’s $2.62 billion capital budget. The capital budget supports the state’s capital assets and infrastructure as well as local community projects. In total, Union County received more $1.65 million in funding for a variety of what State Senator Dave Burke called “important projects.”

Council voted unanimously to purchase a new street roller for the village at Monday night’s regular meeting.

Kim Rea was raised to “pay it forward.” Her mother was always volunteering, helping others less fortunate.
Kim raised her four sons to do the same thing.

Richwood man indicted for beating grandfather

A Richwood man could be facing nearly a decade in prison after allegedly attacking his grandfather.
Dustin Tyler Waddell, 21, of 330 N. Franklin St., Richwood, has been indicted by the Union County Grand Jury. Waddell is charged with one count each of felonious assault and aggravated possession of drugs.

Richwood a part of drug “Take Back” event

Law authorities from the Union County Sheriff’s Office, the Plain City Police Department and the Richwood Police Department are coordinating efforts to take drugs off the streets in Union County.

Board gets updates on events at North Union

The North Union Board of Education met Monday evening with board president Dennis Hall absent from the meeting. Vice President Jean Wedding presided. The board heard of several highlights taking place at the North Union Middle School. Principal Matt Burggraf made the presentations. He spoke on the accomplishments of  the seventh grade boys basketball team going 17-2 this winter. The Robotic students have been competing and will be traveling to Louisville, Kentucky for the World VEX Robotics competition the end of this month. Burggraf also mentioned that one third of the middle school students have a B or higher grade point average and is proud of their accomplishments. The board was very proud of all aspects of the middle school students.

Get ready for electronic waste and appliance recycling day

The North Central Ohio Solid Waste District, Union Recyclers, Accurate IT and a partnership with the Union County Commissioners and the Union County Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring a free electronic waste and appliance-recycling day for Union County residents. The event will be held Saturday, April 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Union Recyclers, 15140 US Route 36 East, Marysville.

Venison donated to local food pantries

Approximately 1,000 pounds of ground venison was recently distributed to food pantries in Logan and Union Counties, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

Public’s input needed for Union County’s 200th celebration

The former First Lady Barbara Bush, who married to President George H. W. Bush, died Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at the age of 92.
There’s an old saying that we are all related somehow. Well, Greg and Gina (Kavanagh) Ballinger can agree with that. In fact, while looking up their genealogy, they found that they are sixth or seventh generation cousins!

Health Department explains levy options
The Union County Health Department is hosting a town hall meeting Wednesday, May 2, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Union County Health Department.

Come to National Day of Prayer
The National Day of Prayer is a nationwide event held on Thursday, May 3.
Those in the Richwood area are encouraged to take a few minutes to gather at 101 S. Franklin Street, the former town hall building at noon.
