Hospitality Night promises excitement

The Richwood Area Business Association (RABA) announces the upcoming
annual Hospitality Night set for Thursday, Dec. 6. Local businesses stay
open from 5 to 7 p.m. offering customers an opportunity to “shop at home”
and do their Christmas shopping. This is also the last day you will be
able to sign-up to win a free poinsettia from Sheila’s Flowers and Gifts.
There is no purchase necessary and be sure to stop by each business who is
supporting the giveaway, sign-up with your name and telephone number.
Winners will be drawn Thursday evening and each winner will receive a card
to be redeemed at Sheila’s Flowers and Gifts.
Christmas Parade canceled, but festivities to
continue

Many people were disappointed, especially the children, when the word
traveled the Christmas Parade was canceled due to the rainy conditions.
Richwood Park was unfit for floats and displays to line up for the parade
route, so the decision was made not to have it last Saturday. But the
public was invited to attend the fun at the Richwood-North Union Public
Library during the annual open house.
Winter weather driving

Severe weather can be both frightening and dangerous for automobile
travel. Motorists should know the safety rules for dealing with winter
road emergencies. Motorists should be cautious while driving in adverse
weather.

touches on their annual Community Dinner, set for Wednesday, Dec. 19 from
5 to 7 p.m.

Village council prepares for Franklin Street
Enhancement Project

Nancy Tobe, an engineer with Access Engineering, approached village
council at their Monday night meeting regarding multiple revocable use
permits to multiple properties in Richwood, before the Franklin Street
Enhancement project begins, hopefully after the start of the new year.
Veterans remembered during the holidays

The Victor A. Hammond Union County Civil Air Patrol Unit 234, will be
participating in the
Wreaths Across America” event held on Saturday. Dec. 15.
They will be at the Union County Courthouse with the event beginning at 12
noon. The public is invited to attend the moving ceremony.
Schools receive protective shields from county
prosecutor’s office

Local school districts last week were given some new items officials hope
never need to be used.
On Thursday, Dec. 14, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office handed out
ballistic shields to Marysville Exempted Village Schools, North Union
Local Schools, Fairbanks Local Schools, Trinity Lutheran Church and
School, St. John’s Lutheran School and St. Paul Lutheran Early Childhood
Center.
School District receives awards from ODE

Just prior to the regular North Union Board of Education meeting, School
Superintendent Rich Baird announced during the meeting that he had just
received word from the Ohio Department of Education, that North Union was
one of 660 school districts to receive the Ohio Momentum Award. Seventy
other schools also received the honor. This award recognizes schools for
exceeding expectations in student growth for the year.
