The Institute for Health Innovation of the Ohio Hospital Association (OHA) recently welcomed the newest chair of its Board of Directors. Memorial Health President and CEO Chip Hubbs took the helm last month.

The American Red Cross will be in town at the Richwood Marketing office, located at 15 E. Ottawa Street in Richwood from 1 to 7 p.m.

The Richwood Independent Fair Board is announcing some major changes to the 2019 fair, Aug. 28 through Labor Day, Sept. 2. So 4-Hers, FFA students, parents and fairgoers should take notes of these changes.

Free mobile phone app announced by sheriff’s office

The Union County Sheriff’s Office has a new iPhone and Android mobile app, which will provide the public direct alerts of police activity, road closures, motor vehicle accidents and more. The app was released, January 7, 2019, and is now available to download for FREE.

North Union School Board hears about new “pathways”

The North Union Board of Education learned of the new “Pathways” from high school principal Janel Chapman during the regular Monday night meeting held at North Union High School. The board took a tour of the high school facility before the meeting.

NUHS incident ends in standoff at hospital

An incident that started at the North Union High School ended in a pair of standoffs at Memorial Hospital and criminal charges against a Marion man.
Anthony Lagos, 38, of 270 Somerlot Hoffman Road West, Marion, has been charged with one count of felony inducing panic.

LUC to sponsor Fair Housing program

Heather Martin has been commissioned by the Logan Union Champaign Regional Planning Commission to hold an informational meeting at the Magnetic Springs Village Hall, located at 30 W. Magnetic Street in Magnetic Springs. The event will be held on Wednesday, March 27, from 3 to 4 p.m.
The village of Magnetic Springs has been awarded $500,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Grant for updates in the village. A requirement to receiving CDBG monies is to learn more about fair housing in their community.

DI teams headed to state competition

On March 30, the SnoogleTuff DayLandNight Ramen Noodle Jrs. will compete in the state Destination Imagination (DI) competition to be held at Beaver Local Schools in East Liverpool, Ohio. The team will compete in two events, a central challenge and an instant challenge. These challenges require teams to work together closely on their solution, and teams are evaluated on their creativity and teamwork.

Students honored at FFA Banquet

The North Union FFA held their annual banquet last Thursday at Der Dutchman in Plain City. Over 230 students, parents, school staff and guests witnessed the accomplishments of the local chapter.

Council welcomes visitors

Three representatives from the North Union Little League approached council members during the regular Monday night meeting. Councilman Jack Moore was absent from the meeting.

FFA takes first place in state in Agronomy

The North Union FFA Agronomy Career Development Event (CDE) team competed at the Ohio State Fairgrounds Saturday. The team placed first out of 28 schools and will represent Ohio at the National FFA Convention.
