Grand jury
indicts local residents
From Richwood Gazette Staff reports
A local man could be facing as many as 12 months in prison after allegedly
not leaving his home for police.
The Union County Grand Jury recently indicted Anthony J. Vanhoose, 25.
Court documents give his address as 317 E. Blagrove St., in Richwood, but
also list him as being from Urbana. Vanhoose is charged with one count of
obstructing official business.
North Union District updates on COVID-19

School Superintendent Rich Baird stated that as of Monday, Nov. 30, there
were 22 active cases of staff and students who were in isolation or
quarantine with COVID-19.

of COVID-19 cases that rise in the county.
Ohio AG’s want extension for CARES Act

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has joined a coalition of attorneys
general representing 43 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S.
territories, urging Congress to extend the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and
Economy (CARES) Act funding until the end of 2021.

COVID-19 deaths increase in county

The number of deaths related to COVID-19 in Union County has reached
double digits.
Deaths jumped from eight to 13 last Wednesday, according to data from the
Ohio Department of Health.
Union County Health Department Public Information Officer Jennifer Thrush
said the five most recent deaths occurred from Nov. 20 through Nov. 30.
Honda helps first responders

Honda is working to improve communication inside its buildings and helping
local first responders at the same time.
The company recently constructed Multi-Agency Radio Communication System
(MARCS) tower and installed the related equipment on Honda Research and
Development property near Raymond. This morning, Honda announced it would
donate the system to the state of Ohio to be used by public safety
organizations and first responders in the region.
The Christmas season brings seasonal dangers; tips on
how to stay safe

Police Chief Monte Asher is reminding residents to take extra precautions
during this Christmas season. According to Asher, vandalism increases
during the month of December. So Asher would like to remind people to
consider using some safety tips in safeguard their property and
possessions.
Council
approves Town Hall project

Village council members heard a presentation during their regular Monday
night meeting from the Richwood Redevelopment Committee regarding the town
hall project.
Community Care Train raises $68,000

Despite changes forced by the COVID-19 pandemic, Care Train organizers
said the auction once again had a successful year.
Care Train Executive Director Pam Sturwold said the virtual, online
auction went “really, really well.”
RABA sponsors annual poinsettia contest

The Richwood Area Business Association (RABA) hosted their annual
Poinsettia Contest and the winners have been announced. The public was
invited to sign-up at local business to enter for the chance to win a
poinsettia for the holidays.
