Solar farm
coming to county

York and Washington townships already have a variety of farms — beans,
corn, dairy and beef.
But they could soon be getting a solar farm and with it an estimated
$2-million in local taxes.
Acciona Energy USA Global LLC, (AEUG) a global renewable energy and
infrastructure company, has filed for permission to construct an up to 325
MW solar powered electric generating facility on about 3,500 acres near
the intersection of state routes 31 and 739.

The National Fire Protection Association has announced the theme of Fire
Prevention Week 2020 is “Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen.” Cooking is
the leading cause of home fires and home fire injuries in the U.S. Use the
week of October 4-10 to educate your community on cooking hazards, the
dangers of unattended cooking, and precautions they can take to prevent

Health Dept. offers safety events to public

on Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Richwood Fairgrounds from noon to 3 p.m.

adjusts to challenges of COVID

The Care Train of Union County is preparing for the upcoming holiday
season and like many businesses and organizations around the country, it
has been forced to make some big changes this year.
Homecoming ceremony announced

The North Union High School will host a homecoming ceremony tonight, Wed.,
Oct. 14 beginning at 7 p.m. to announce the homecoming court and crown the
2020 king and queen.
Council looking to community for revitalization

Richwood Village Council has been discussing the immediate need for either
tearing down the former town hall/opera house building or to renovate it.
There has been an offer to tear down the facility for approximately
$37,000. Council also knows that it could cost about $2 million to fix or
replace the roof and do extensive work to completely renovate the
building.

School District prepares for renewal levy on November ballot

Registered voters in Union County will go to the voting polls Tuesday,
Nov. 3 to vote during the General Election. It has been well publicized
that voters will cast their votes for the President of the United
States, Supreme Court judges, local officials and issues, but one
not so well publicized is a renewal levy for North Union Schools.
Hoffman receives state math award

North Union School Officials received word last week that Jodi Hoffman has
been selected for the 2020 Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics (OCTM)
Linda M. Gojak Middle School State Award.
Jurors names drawn for duty

The following jurors have been drawn for Petit Jury for the months of
November and December, 2020, for the Court of Common Pleas.
You will be notified in person or by letter when to report for jury duty.
Do not be concerned until notified, as additional juror names have been
drawn and will be called on an “as needed” basis. Therefore, your jury
service may or may not be required.
Council hears Dudley Circle concerns

Residents living on Dudley Circle attended the regular council meeting
Monday, Oct. 19 to tell council that they are unable to get their mail
delivered, due to street construction.
Contractor Jason Wills is installing new curbs, drains, sidewalks, etc. in
the final construction of the new Dudley Circle street.
