Russ Huffman of Marysville was recently named to the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.

He was nominated by his former teacher, Russ Walkup, for his leadership in organizing the 50th class reunion for his Marysville High School class. Walkup said it was the best reunion he ever attended.

For his efforts, Kentucky Governor Matthew G. Bevin awarded Huffman the honor.

The official “Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels” was founded in 1932 and now operates as a charitable organization. Kentucky colonelships are commissioned for an individual’s contributions to his or her community, state or nation, and for special achievements.

Huffman is among other service-oriented men and women who have been named Kentucky Colonels, including President Lyndon B. Johnson and English Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
