We are now down to one local high school football team still playing in the post-season.
The Pioneers of Jonathan Alder are the last men standing in the playoffs, as Marysville fell to Springfield last week.
Which Pigskin Picker will be the final one standing at the end of the college bowl season still remains in doubt.
Publisher Kevin Behrens posted a 6-2 record a week ago climbed into a three-way tie during an already tight season race.
Cream does rise to the top as Behrens is 77-19 for the season and is tied with reporter Mac “The falling knife” Cordell and sports writer Sam “Jim Dandy” Dillon.
Cordell and Dillon each went 4-4 last week and match Behrens with 77-19 marks.
Sports editor Tim Miller won five of the eight games a week ago and is nipping at the leaders’ heels with a 76-20 record.
In the basement and crying over his spilled milk is managing editor Chad Williamson. After last week’s 5-3 mark, he is 74-22.
Our guest Pickers and their records from last week are Bob Van Hoose of Bob Van Hoose Garage Doors and Sales (5-3), Scotts Weeks of Weeks Plumbing (3-5), Dave Laslow of Burger King (7-1), Dean Cook of Dean Cook Nationwide Insurance (5-3), Rob Eubanks of Eubanks Electric (3-5) and Kellie O’Connors of Buckeye Family Pizzeria (3-5).

Disclaimers:
Williamson: “I want to start out by congratulating Marysville grad and Marysville Journal-Tribune publisher Kevin Behrens on making up a game by picking against the Marysville football team in their first trip back to the state playoffs in six years. I mean, heck, some people would say throwing support behind your community team in big high school games should be a given, but those people are trying to rise to the top of a half-baked column on the sports page. Some would say it would have cost him nothing to fall in line with the other Pickers in backing the Monarchs, but those people aren’t buried in the muck of trying to win a meaningless title. The good news is, with Springfield playing a neutral site game at Marysville this week, Behrens won’t have to drive far to see his favorite team.”
Behrens: “Speaking of half-baked, Wee Willy Willamson a seasoned reporter, always knows to gather the facts before throwing daggers from the basement of the Pickers. If Wee Willy would have done his homework he would have found this Picker was on the Marysville bandwagon all year long and picked them to win against Coffman, Davidson and UA, so to tie me to some Springfield pick as if he was sorry he didn’t pick them himself is sad at the least. Looks like the pizza on Williamson this year.”
Miller: “Let’s hope the Pioneers continue to roll! I’m not very confident about my Browns pick. I’ve been flipping on Oklahoma-Baylor as well. The Bears are one of the feel-good stories of the 2019 season, but I had to go back to ‘Boomer Sooner.’”
Cordell: “I am not sure about my picks this week. It has been hard to concentrate with K-Behr crowing about the Wildcat win Friday.”
Dillon: “Pass the popcorn, I’m just here for the disclaimers.”
Van Hoose: “Go Bucks!”
Weeks: “Go Bucks!”
Laslow: “Go Bucks!”
Cook: “Go Bucks!”
Eubanks: “Go Bucks!”
O’Connors: Go Bucks!”
