Boys basketball teams from around the state met Sunday to cast their votes that determined their seed for the start of the Ohio High School Athletic Association tournament.
Several local schools found some favorable match-ups in their quest for tourney advancement.
Jonathan Alder took the top seed in the Division II Central District.
The Pioneers will skip the first round of play and start their tournament against the 20th-seeded Columbus East on Saturday, Feb. 29 at 1 p.m. at Jonathan Alder High School.
The winner of the contest will move to play either 18th-seeded Bexley, 17th- seeded Hebron Lakewood or ninth-seeded Bishop Watterson (depending on early contests) in the district semifinals.
North Union took the third seed in the Division III Central District and will play ninth-seeded Amanda-Clearcreek at homeon Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m.
The winner will move on to play 16th-seeded West Jefferson.
Fairbanks took the 14th seed in Division III.
The Panthers will face 11th-seeded Elgin on Feb. 25, 7 p.m., on the Comets’ home floor.
The winner will move to face second seeded Worthington Christian.
The 21st seeded Marysville Monarchs will open their Division I Central District tournament at home against the 26th seeded Westerville North on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. The winner will travel to 16th seeded Chillicothe.
Triad took the 23rd seed in the Division III Southwest District tourney.
The Cardinals will face top-seeded Anna on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m. at Butler High School.
The winner will face 24th-seeded New Lebanon Dixie.
