Finish second at Tri-County North
A seven-year period of frustration ended for Triad’s wrestling team on Saturday.
The Cardinals placed second during an eight-team tournament at Tri-County North.
It was the first tournament placement for Triad’s grapplers since 2013.
National Trail won the team title with 203 points and the Cardinals tallied 184.
Other scores were Tri-County North-160, Twin Valley South-98, Arcanum-88, Stivers-62, Cincinnati Country Day-47 and Meadowdale-eight.
Triad wrestlers who won championships were freshman Drue Instine (113) and juniors Blake Boldman (152), Dalton Overfield (160) and Isiah Leasure (170).
Juniors Coleman Hauck (145) and Thomas Ford (182) placed second in their weight classes.
Third place was earned by John Downey (no weight class reported).
‘We only took eight wrestlers to this tournament and seven of them placed,” said coach Mike Zizzo. “Despite injuries with the rest of our team, our guys are making themselves known.”
