Triad’s varsity baseball and softball teams scored victories during tournament action on Tuesday.
The fourth-seeded baseball team defeated visiting No. 5 Mississinawa Valley, 5-2, in Division IV action.
The Lady Cardinals blanked Bradford, 5-0, in a Division IV game that was played at Newton High School.
Baseball
Triad jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the home half of the first inning and never looked back.
Batai Lease scattered five hits and fanned eight batters for the victory.
Austin Bails tallied two of Triad’s hits.
Coleman Hauck, Logan McCoy and Isaiah Bruce each drove in runs.
The fourth-seeded Cardinals (11-13) will travel to No. 3 Sidney Lehman Catholic today for another tournament game.

Softball
Triad pitcher Joni Russell limited No. 2 seed Bradford to just two hits.
She fanned 12 batters.
Kendell Hughes doubled for the Cardinals and drove in three runs.
The victory upped the fifth-seeded Lady Cardinals’ record to 14-9.
They will make the journey to Mason on Saturday, 11 a.m., to face Felicity-Franklin.

Panthers win
Fairbanks’ varsity baseball squad ran its record to 18-8 with a 14-1 regular-season verdict over Worthington Christian.
The Panthers plated four runs in the home half of the first inning and were never threatened.
Mason Cushman limited the Warriors to just a pair of hits. He fanned six and issued a quartet of walks.
Jaeden Eickhoff, Alex Blumenschein and Grant Rausch each had two hits.
Blumenschein drove in a pair of runs.
Also hitting safely were Cushman, Alex Jones, Braxton Wilhelm, Noah Rausch, Weston Lorenz and John Pastirzyk.
Both Rausch’s and Cushman each drove in runs.
The Panthers will open Division III tournament action on Thursday by hosting Johnstown.
