Marysville’s track and field athletes continued to compete in the Division I district meet at Hilliard Darby High School on Wednesday.
The girls field events were held as were the boys running prelims.
Shannon Cordle placed second in the long jump. She was sitting in seventh place heading into her final jump.
Her effort of 16-9.5 moved her all the way up to runner-up status.
As such, she will compete next week during the regional meet at Pickerington North High School.
The top four placers in each event advanced to the regional.
The MHS boys 4×800 meter relay team just missed qualifying for the regional.
The team of Mack Weithman, Luke Reighard, Paxton Herring and Levi Weithman placed fifth with a time of 8:01.34.
Boys running event finals will begin at noon on Saturday at Hilliard Darby.
MHS athletes who have advanced to the finals (along with prelim results) in the following events are:
-110 meter hurdles: Roberto Galvis, second, 14.9;
-100 meter dash: JT Hiltscher, third, 11.01;
-1600 meter run: M. Weithman, ninth, 4:51.1; Herring, 13th, 4:51.32;
-400 meter dash: Hiltscher, sixth, 51.66;
-800 meter run: Reighard, 11th, 2:05.99; M. Weithman, 12th, 2:09.20;
-200 meter dash: Hiltscher, sixth, 22.32;
-4×400 meter relay: sixth, 3:31.52 (Ethan Boylan, Galvis, Dominic Brown, Waylon McDaniel).
